Research Engineer I (Software Engineering)

The Alibaba-NTU Global e-Sustainability CorpLab (ANGEL) represents a key collaboration between Alibaba Group and Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Supported by the Singapore RIE2025 Fund, ANGEL creates and deploys impactful green digital technologies for global sustainability.

We are seeking a Research Engineer to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Software Security. The role will focus on advancing the use of large language models and agentic AI systems for secure software development, vulnerability detection, automated code review, and software security assessment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct research on AI-driven techniques for software vulnerability discovery, analysis, and remediation.

• Design, implement, and evaluate novel approaches for vulnerability detection, program analysis, and software security assessment.

• Develop research prototypes, datasets, and experimental frameworks to support project objectives.

• Perform literature reviews and stay current with advances in AI, software security, and vulnerability research.

• Analyze experimental results and contribute to technical reports, research publications, and presentations.

• Collaborate with project team members to execute research activities and achieve project milestones.

• Maintain research artifacts, code repositories, and documentation following good research and software engineering practices.

• Support the preparation of research proposals, project reports, and other research-related deliverables as required.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or related field

• Strong background in software security, software engineering, and agentic workflow.

• Experience in program analysis, formal methods, or vulnerability detection techniques is preferred.

• Good written and oral communication skills

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Solidity, Python, C/C++, or Java.

• Good publication record in relevant areas (e.g., security, software engineering, AI) is advantageous.
