AI Singapore (AISG) is a national AI programme launched by the National Research Foundation (NRF), Singapore, to build and anchor deep national capabilities in AI.  AISG is supported through a government-wide partnership including the NRF, Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI), Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), Economic Development Board (EDB) and Enterprise Singapore (ESG). This position will be hosted at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and we welcome you to join our community.

The Research Assistant will support ongoing work on agentic model alignment, contributing to a collaborative research track with international partners and external collaborators. The role focuses on aligning large language models with UN principles, with evaluation grounded in SEA-LION/SEA-HELM and broader alignment frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support research on agentic alignment of large language models with UN principles

  • Contribute to evaluation and benchmarking using SEA-LION and SEA-HELM frameworks

  • Collaborate on alignment work linked to the ATLAS framework with external research partners

  • Conduct literature review and experimentation related to model alignment and safety

  • Assist in documenting findings, methodologies, and technical writeups

  • Coordinate with internal team members and external collaborators (including UN-affiliated and academic partners)

  • Support ad hoc research and analysis tasks as the project evolves

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field

  • Strong analytical and quantitative reasoning skills

  • Some exposure to machine learning, NLP, or LLM evaluation is preferred

  • Able to work independently in a fast-moving research environment

  • Good written communication skills for documentation and reporting

  • Comfortable collaborating with international and cross-functional stakeholders
