Position Summary
This role manages regional customs operation and advise subsidiaries customs personnel on how to handle customs issues, for both the sales office and factory, within SEA & Oceania region.
Role and Responsibilities
- Develop and manage customs risk management program and align the objectives and regular process with subsidiaries.
- Monitor SEA & Oceania import and export customs regulatory and procedural changes that could impact import /export planning and requirements.
- Clearly communicate those guidelines to stakeholders for the export/import planning process.
- Manage and report duty refund status, also to minimize over/underpaid duties.
- Conduct regular internal customs audit and monitoring through analysing and reviewing import data.
- Assist with classification, including Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), import permit, FTA application and tariff concession (AU, NZ).
- Establish and manage positive business relationships with key stakeholders in HQ, RHQ and subsidiaries and business teams.
- Proactively identify and drive process improvement initiatives.
- Develop communication and training plans to raise awareness among stakeholders on trade and product compliance processes.
- Be active in the role of consultancy and interaction with HQ, regional counterparts and subsidiaries in discussion and sharing of best practices in operations.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of experience in managing and advising Customs process (Import/Export), FTAs, Trade Compliance, or similar regulatory matter in the region.
- Demonstrate strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proven track record in handling regional and country customs operation.
- Highly motivated with drive to work independently to accomplish goals.
- Ability to thrive in fast paced and changing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent
- Licensed customs broker is preferred.
- Prior government or regulatory agency (consulting firm) experience is preferred.
