The Regional Counsel, Asia Pacific, Diagnostics Platform will be responsible for providing leadership, guidance, direction and assistance in connection with a wide variety of legal, regulatory, compliance and business matters in Asia Pacific (outside of China) for Operating Companies (“OpCos”) within the Danaher Diagnostics Platform.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate an ability to assess the needs of the business from a legal, compliance and regulatory perspective and work with the relevant business leaders and other members of the global legal team to properly deploy existing or new resources against those needs.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Drive and support the implementation of the Diagnostics Platform’s strategy in the Asian Pacific region, including by advising on legal and business issues associated with different go-to-market strategies.

Support and partner with the Diagnostics Platform (Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, Cepheid, Leica Biosystems, Radiometer, Hemocue) business leaders based in Singapore, including, but not limited to APAC Commercial Business leaders & Regional functional leaders.

Design and manage the strategy, direction and activities of the Asia Pacific legal and compliance function.

Advise, counsel and provide legal services to the Diagnostics Platform businesses in Asia Pacific, their goals and challenges and identify appropriate legal and compliance strategies to facilitate those goals and minimize risks and challenges.

Work collaboratively with executive leadership, department managers and staff throughout the organization to develop and implement policies and procedures that drive efficient and effective business practices in all forms while ensuring alignment with global and local laws and policies.

Negotiate and document commercial transactions, contracts, and other legal arrangements including distribution, dealer and sales agency transactions.

Engage proactively and advise colleagues on the prioritization of risks and identify, monitor and improve key processes and internal controls.

Be a critical team member in formulating an appropriate intellectual property strategy for Asia Pacific.

Develop appropriate approaches to dispute resolution, lawsuits, and arbitrations; provide regular, clear communication of litigation issues and opportunities to the affected business and to the General Counsel, Diagnostics Platform and relevant finance team members.

Emphasize and demonstrate operational excellence and a balanced risk-taking approach.

Work with the compliance team to identify and mitigate compliance risks and develop appropriate countermeasures. Conduct compliance-related investigations and implement action plans to remediate identified issues.

Assist with mergers & acquisition, consistent with relevant experience – from due diligence to documentation depending on the situation and background.

Assist colleagues and internal stakeholders with support in a variety of legal areas, including, labor, employment law, and regulatory law.

Work on the smallest and simplest, as well as the most complex, legal matters faced by the company.
The essential requirements of the job include: -
The successful candidate must hold a J.D., LL.M., or equivalent law degree.

Minimum 15 years of post-academic experience working in a multi-national company, preferably in the medical device or life sciences industries.

Legal experience that includes broad in-house duties and responsibilities. Prior work experience as an associate or deputy general counsel is preferred.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: Ability to travel internationally as needed, depending on location of residence perhaps as much as 20-30% of time.
