The Job:
As a Regional Compliance Director (Southeast Asia, Oceana) you’ll be part of our Legal team, reporting directly to the Senior Director, Regional Chief Compliance Officer. You will be a hybrid employee based in Stanley Black & Decker’s offices in Singapore.    You’ll get to:
 
Own and execute the enterprise compliance strategy for multiple regions to create a program that results in reasonable assurance of compliance with global and local laws and regulations within the specified regions.
Represent the global compliance organization as part of a senior business team implementing significant growth investments in targeted country markets in alignment with the enterprise and regional risk appetite.
Provide leadership to both direct and indirect team members in building a world-class compliance program.
Work with all members of a cross functional team, including Commercial, Human Resources, Controllership, and Internal Audit to ensure that global compliance program elements are effectively implemented.
Conduct compliance risk assessments (both program-wide and policy-specific) at the country level and develop execution plans to mitigate identified risks.
Maintain and strengthen the culture of integrity in the region with the goal of ensuring a world class culture of integrity, one in which all leaders in the region are engaged and there is an open reporting environment in which employees feel comfortable to report concerns.
Provide compliance training and communications to increase awareness of compliance risks and requirements.
Participate in the global compliance program processes that implement, monitor and test controls in the region to assess the effectiveness of the regional compliance program.
Prepare and present reports to senior management and relevant governance committees on the status of compliance and culture in the specified regions.
Serve as a point of contact for regulatory agencies in the region to ensure timely and accurate responses to inquiries, and maintain healthy regulatory relationships.

A demonstrated track record of leadership experience that includes setting the vision at the corporate and regional levels for compliance, and as a role model for integrity and operational excellence.
In-depth leadership experience with managing compliance programs for a top tier compliance program that result in world class functional oversight, especially in a regional setting.
Experience with compliance relating to anti-bribery program compliance programs, trade controls and other high-priority compliance risk area oversight.
Expertise on compliance risk assessment management and controls test of design and test of effectiveness.
 
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field. Advanced degrees (e.g., JD or MBA) and/or compliance certificates (e.g., Privacy, Cybersecurity, Certified Ethics Professional), a plus
Extensive experience (typically, 10+ years) in a senior compliance role for a top tier global compliance program
Leadership experience, including the ability to lead and participate in high-performing compliance team
Demonstrated ability to communicate and engage at all levels of the organization – from senior leadership to manufacturing line employees
Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed operating environment
Experience with manufacturing facilities and multi-national indirect sales networks is a plus
Highly conversant primarily in English is mandatory. Ability to converse in either Vietnamese, Thai, Bahasa Melayu or Mandarin would enable effective communication with regional stakeholders.
