As part of the Office of Legal Obligations, you'll play a crucial role in documenting and monitoring legal obligations, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. This position offers career growth, collaboration with diverse professionals, and the opportunity to impact our business positively.
As an AVP in the Office of Legal Obligations within our Legal Department, you will work closely with a global team to maintain an inventory of legal obligations for JPMorgan Chase's businesses in Japan. Your role is vital in ensuring compliance and supporting our business and corporate functions.
You will develop subject matter expertise on JPMorgan Chase's products and services, assist in policy development, and collaborate with technology partners to enhance our legal infrastructure. This role offers exposure to legal frameworks across Asia Pacific countries, promoting a comprehensive understanding of regional regulations.
Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of legal obligations for JPMorgan Chase's businesses in Japan.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory changes, providing insights and summaries in both Japanese and English.
  • Research and analyze Japanese laws, regulations, and rules.
  • Promote quality assurance and accuracy of legal obligations.
  • Assist in developing policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Collaborate with technology partners to develop solutions.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in law
  • Qualified lawyer with 4+ years of experience in a law firm or in-house.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with business and corporate functions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Compliance with relevant licensing requirements.
  • Fluency in Japanese in order to support business in Japan.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Background in financial services regulation or supporting a highly regulated business.
  • Familiarity with the legal framework relating to financial products and services.
  • Experience with regulatory change monitoring.
