Position Summary

The Regional Communications Assistant Manager will support in driving external and internal communications to strengthen Samsung Electronics’ brand in Southeast Asia and Oceania, and to support business priorities. He/she will work with various internal stakeholders at the global and regional headquarters, and in the local markets, as well as external partners.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Support in the strategic development and execution of external and internal communications initiatives/activities, to strengthen the company’s brand in the region in alignment with business priorities
  • Build and implement communications strategy to strengthen Samsung's engagement and collaboration with key media and influencers, relevant organizations, communities and key stakeholders
  • Create engaging and impactful content for various communication platforms, including owned channels, that resonate with our audiences, and with the purpose of driving positive media coverage in Southeast Asia and Oceania, including press materials driving corporate messages, and for product launches and sustenance; PR toolkits; speeches; feature articles and infographics
  • Develop internal newsletters, reports, as well as executive memos and presentation materials for internal communication
  • Work with global and local PR teams to identify opportunities and gaps, and implement action plans to improve processes
  • Support the planning and organization of events as required (regional press conferences, media roundtables, etc)
  • Support media engagement activities by developing key messages, preparing spokespeople for interviews and responding to media queries
  • Plan and drive programs for maintaining strong relationships with key media partners and stakeholders (analysts, influencers, etc.) to foster a positive perception of the brand and products
  • Monitor media sentiment and public opinion regarding the company or products, and when issues arise, develop and effectively deliver public statements in alignment with Global Office and local teams
  • Provide guidance to the local teams to build corporate brand stories to improve brand equity across the region
  • Collaborate and co-ordinate with local teams on behalf of Global Office to drive the implementation of the company’s PR and CSR programs
  • Support in the management of external agencies to drive PR activities, including the bidding and contract processes

Skills and Qualifications

Skills & Qualifications

  • Preference for a candidate with a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or a related field, with at least 5-7 years of working experience in PR or Corporate Communications at an agency or in-house
    • Experience in consumer tech PR, crisis communications/issues management experience and/or management of owned digital and social channels, and/or having an established network of relevant media contacts, is advantageous
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with experience in developing external and internal communications materials
  • An enthusiastic, motivated, flexible and adaptable team player who is well able to manage individual projects on your own by liaising with external partners, agencies, suppliers and internally with other departments and teams.
  • Has strong organizational skills, works proactively, is detail-oriented, and is able to stay focused and maintain composure even when under pressure
  • Fluent in English
  • Excellent research, analysis, writing and report drafting and presentation skills
  • Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel regionally and internationally for events or meetings
