About the Role:
We are seeking a talented Public Affairs Director (APAC) to be part of our Global Public Policy team. You will be responsible for formulating, organizing, executing and communicating public policy programs, initiatives and positions to support the business, as well as provide thought leadership across a range of issues, including technology, entertainment, and international trade. Your principal focus will be on Southeast Asia, but you may be required to work on cross-cutting issues and projects across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The role is based in Singapore.
You will work in a fast paced, global business environment. Having a collaborative and inquisitive attitude is key, along with a passion for technology and its impact on users and society. Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills are crucial for success in this role.

  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive public affairs strategies to advocate for Tencent’s business interests in Southeast Asia, aligning with global corporate objectives.
  • Provide senior-level counsel on regional public policy matters, offering insights into the political, regulatory, and economic landscape affecting Tencent’s operations.
  • Serve as a primary interface between Tencent and governmental bodies, trade associations, and industry partners, building strong, strategic relationships across the region.
  • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments, translating complex policy issues into actionable business strategies.
  • Oversee the preparation and communication of position papers, policy briefings, and reports, representing Tencent’s views to internal and external audiences.
  • Collaborate closely with Global Public Policy, Legal, and Business teams to ensure consistent messaging and advocacy efforts.
  • Uphold Tencent’s core values of integrity, transparency, and authenticity in all cross-cultural interactions.

Who We Look For

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in public affairs or government relations roles within technology, telecommunications, entertainment or other relevant industry sectors.
  • Deep expertise in the Southeast Asia and APAC public policy environment, with a proven ability to influence policy discussions and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success in managing government relations and advocacy at a senior level.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills; ability to engage with senior government officials and corporate executives.
  • Strong analytical and organizational capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal). Additional language skills (Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu, Thai, Vietnamese, or Mandarin) are highly desirable.
  • May require travel across Southeast Asia and to APAC markets from time to time.
