Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and engineering of marine automation systems, including system descriptions, test protocols, and technical documentation
- Develop and maintain project-specific PLC software and HMI applications
- Test systems, subsystems, and functionalities throughout the engineering process
- Support and participate in in-house and supplier Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
- Carry out on-site commissioning of propulsion control and Dynamic Positioning systems, including international assignments
- Participate in onboard acceptance tests and vessel trials
- Perform occasional service activities, including troubleshooting, testing, adjustments, and calibration
- Prepare service documentation and technical reports on completed work
- Work professionally with shipyards, vessel owners, and crew during commissioning and service
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and cybersecurity procedures
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics, Maritime Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years' experience in automation engineering; experience in the marine or offshore sector is an advantage
- Working knowledge of IEC 61131-3 programming languages (Ladder Diagram, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, Sequential Function Chart)
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as MODBUS RTU/TCP, CANopen, RS485, or RS422
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and system documentation
- Good understanding of sensors and industrial networks
- Basic awareness of cybersecurity principles in an operational technology environment
- Hands-on mindset, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong written and spoken English
- Willingness to travel internationally, including work onboard vessels and at customer sites
