[What the role is]

The Singapore Global Network (SGN) is a division under the Economic Development Board (EDB) and focuses on building a strong ecosystem of overseas family, friends and fans of Singapore. This includes growing a network of individuals whose skills, affinity and influence could strengthen Singapore’s business and talent ecosystem, along with enhancing international mindshare of Singapore as a vibrant global hub in Asia.
SGN is reimagining its digital experience through a single community platform that will transform how our members and partners connect, engage and interact with us.
As our founding User Experience (UX) lead for this platform, you will play a key role in shaping this platform from the ground up. Starting with our website redesign, you will lead the design of intuitive, seamless and engaging digital experiences across core platform features including member sign-in, profiles, the contribution hub and funding portal.
This is a multi-year roadmap, with at least two years to establish the foundation of the platform. Working closely with SGN's community building and product development teams, you will have the opportunity to shape how SGN members and partners experience our digital platforms from the start, while laying the groundwork for its continued evolution.
For more information on SGN, please visit www.singaporeglobalnetwork.gov.sg

[What you will be working on]

As the Product Designer (UX/UI) in SGN, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

User Experience & Product Design and Improvement

  • Lead the end-to-end UX/UI design of SGN’s new community platform, from user journeys, information architecture and wireframes to interactive and high-fidelity web and mobile application prototypes.
  • Design intuitive and seamless user journeys across key platform features, including member sign-ins, profiles, the contribution hub and funding portal, ensuring a cohesive user experience.

Design Systems & Continuous Improvement

  • Build and maintain SGN’s design system (components, patterns, tokens, documentation) to ensure consistency across the platform as new features are introduced, so visual updates can be rolled out centrally rather than screen by screen.
  • Evolve the platform’s digital look and feel over time, balancing current design practice against usability, accessibility and brand continuity.
  • Leverage analytics and user feedback to test and refine what ships, and inform decisions on product improvements and priorities.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Design Leadership

  • Partner closely with SGN product managers, engineers, and marketing officers to conduct discovery and translate requirements and insights into user-centred design solutions.
  • Communicate design concepts and recommendations clearly, building alignment across stakeholders and championing for user-centred design across all digital products.
  • Define SGN’s digital design standards and design roadmap, contributing to the team’s longer-term growth and mentoring future designers.

[What we are looking for]

  • 6-8 years in UX/UI or product design, with a strong portfolio showing shipped products.
  • Experience building or scaling a design systems.
  • Strong research and interaction design skills, with proficiency in moving from user interviews to high-fidelity prototypes in Figma or other similar platforms.
  • Strong systems thinking, with the ability to design user journeys across various systems and touch points, including user on-boarding flows.
  • Good understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG), responsive design and technical considerations when collaborating closely with engineers.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity for a 0 to 1 platform, balancing immediate delivery needs with longer-term goals: you can ship something useful early while designing for where the platform needs to be in three years.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management at all levels, including the ability to present and defend design decisions to senior stakeholders.
  • Singaporean.

Good to have

  • Experience designing community related applications or complex public-sector citizen-facing platforms.
  • Experience designing digital journeys that transition users from offline to online experiences.
  • Familiarity with app and user testing tools.
  • Familiarity with app analytics tools such as Google analytics or Matomo.
