Position Summary:
Technical architect for Illumina Data Platform ensuring technological evolution in alignment with the Illumina Software Architecture
Position Responsibilities:
Own the architecture responsibility to transform the existing Data Platform to the next generation and evolving it to be an essential integrated part of our Informatics product offering.
Provide leadership for the architecture of a new Data Platform for genomics
Participate and contribute to the global SW architecture team for cross product/platform solutions and integrations
Contribute and assist in providing architectural oversight to ensure delivery of new informatics platform and software products of the highest quality according to committed timelines through effective resource planning and allocation
Champion the adoption of AI assisted Development
Works collaboratively within the global teams across Illumina to ensure consistent and seamless user experience across the portfolio
Creates connections and works collaboratively across functions within R&D (Engineering, Software Instrument & Informatics), across geographies (US and Belgium) and functions to ensure products meet customer needs and function exquisitely at a whole system level
Envisions, champions, and implements program best practices following Illumina’s Product Development Process
Contribute and assist the Singapore SW Development organisation to build a center of excellence with a top-notch Software team by ensuring technical relevance and raising technical competencies of the team.
Participates in product strategy and planning efforts with senior leadership across Product
Participates in the Software leadership team

Position Requirements:
12+ years of hands on experience in developing SW architecture for large complex solutions, preferably in the life sciences and software industry.
Experience using AI tools to develop software and architecture
Demonstrated experience in taking conceptual research through development to a viable product for commercialization
Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation
Excellent technical leadership skills -including the ability to set architectural vision; plan and execute activities to achieve the vision
Strong analytical skills and ability to tie detailed analysis to larger strategy
Experience developing products in an FDA regulated environment would be highly desirable
Strong leadership skills and experience managing senior level engineering professionals

Preferred Experience/Education/Skills:
Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 8 years’ experience; or equivalent experience.
Experience delivering programs on cloud hyperscalers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and/or life sciences software
Experience as a software architect for a minimum of XX years
Experience working in an AI-native software development environment required
Experience with data pipeline and workflow orchestration systems a plus
Experience with population-scale genomics, biobank programs, or other large scientific data platforms a plus
Background in genomics, bioinformatics, or computational biology a plus
Partner- or customer-facing delivery experience on a complex technical engagement
Experience working with life sciences quality management systems a plus
