Develop and improve bioinformatics algorithms for Illumina’s DRAGEN secondary analysis platform, focusing on clinical oncology applications such as somatic variant calling, minimal residual disease, methylation, and tumor biomarker detection. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll design and maintain backend systems for DNA sequencing instruments, develop APIs, and enhance engineering practices while mentoring junior staff.

Leads process integration, production support, and new product introduction for Illumina consumables manufactured internally and by global contract manufacturers. Drives failure analysis, root-cause investigations, corrective actions, yield and capacity improvements, process qualification, test planning, and design-for-manufacturing initiatives. Collaborates with R&D, manufacturing, quality, reliability, and suppliers to resolve product issues, improve manufacturing performance, and support volume ramps in a regulated life sciences environment.

The role manages small workstreams, maintains PLM traceability, supports manufacturing builds, and drives data-based product and process improvements.

Lead product lifecycle and transfer activities for electrical/embedded products, ensuring quality, yield, and compliance. Design and validate PCBs and embedded systems, manage suppliers and manufacturing test methods, perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions, drive NPI and sustaining improvements, and mentor junior engineers across cross-functional teams.

Develop and verify automation software for high-volume manufacturing equipment. Support PLC integration, software testing, and validation to meet regulatory and quality standards.

Support product lifecycle activities for optical subsystems including NPI, transfer, and sustaining manufacturing. Perform optical alignment, characterization, data analysis (FMEA/DOE/statistics), drive process improvements and cost reduction, manage engineering changes and supplier issues, prepare documentation and validation, and collaborate cross-functionally with occasional travel.

Lead global business development for BioInsight by sourcing, negotiating, and closing strategic collaborations and licenses across genomics, multiomics, and AI-enabled drug discovery. Build senior relationships, identify growth opportunities, manage complex transactions end-to-end, and partner cross-functionally to translate scientific innovation into commercial impact.
