  • Cerence Japan offers an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious, solution-oriented sales engineer with a strong technical background to join our expanding team. As a Senior Sales Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in deepening relationships with existing customers in the transportation industry, while driving new revenue opportunities through pre-sales consultancy and innovative solution development. You will become an expert in our next-generation Gen AI-driven product portfolio, helping shape the future of AIpowered mobility solutions.
  • Responsibilities
  • Engage directly with customers (OEMs, Tier 1s) in the automotive and adjacent markets (e.g., two-wheelers, trucks), including on-site visits, to understand their business needs, value drivers, and technical requirements.
  • Strategically position Cerence's innovations, products, solutions, and services, with a strong emphasis on Gen AI offerings.
  • Lead and manage: Solution definitions tailored to customer strategies, especially in Gen AI and LLM applications.
  • RFQ/RFI responses, effort and cost estimates, and creation of statements of work. o Initiate and facilitate discussions with customers about Gen AI solutions, presenting Cerence's capabilities and crafting proposals that realize customer expectations in this field.
  • Design and deliver compelling presentations and product demos, articulating value propositions and technical setups.
  • Identify and develop new markets and customer segments beyond the automotive industry for Cerence’s technology, working closely with sales managers to expand business opportunities.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders (account management, professional services, engineering) and external customer teams.
  • Stay current with advancements in Gen AI and LLMs, and leverage this expertise to support customer engagements.
  • Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
  • Hands-on experience with Gen AI solutions and large language models (LLMs).
  • Experience in software development. Familiarity with infotainment and software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience in the automotive industry (OEMs, Tier 1s). o Proven customer-facing experience and a customer-focused approach.
  • High proficiency in oral and written communication/presentation skills in both Japanese and English. o Willingness to travel.
  • Strong team player, self-motivated, and proficient computer user.
  • Experience with speech solutions is a plus but not required.
