Introduction

This role is responsible for leading the performance, reliability, and capability of CMP equipment to support high-volume manufacturing, technology development, and capacity expansion initiatives. This role serves as the technical authority for CMP toolsets, driving equipment excellence, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement while partnering across Engineering, Manufacturing, and supplier organizations.

Your Job

  • Own end-to-end CMP equipment performance, including uptime, reliability, availability, yield impact, and cost of ownership

  • Lead installation, qualification, and production ramp of new CMP equipment, technology nodes, and capacity expansion initiatives

  • Drive equipment capability improvement, reliability enhancement, and continuous improvement programs (CIP) to achieve manufacturing and business objectives

  • Lead troubleshooting of complex equipment issues and provide technical leadership during major excursions and high-impact manufacturing events

  • Conduct and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA), corrective actions, and long-term preventive measures to eliminate recurring failures

  • Develop and optimize preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) strategies to maximize tool performance and operational efficiency

  • Leverage SPC, FDC, and predictive maintenance methodologies to proactively identify and mitigate equipment risks

  • Partner closely with Process, Manufacturing, Facilities, Quality, and Supplier Engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and improve overall fab performance

  • Drive equipment roadmap planning and work with suppliers on hardware upgrades, technology enhancements, and long-term reliability improvements

  • Establish and standardize equipment engineering best practices, documentation, and operating procedures

  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and serve as the primary technical SME for CMP equipment systems

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's, or Masters in Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline

  • 7 years of semiconductor equipment engineering experience, preferably in CMP

  • Strong expertise in CMP equipment hardware, maintenance strategies, and reliability engineering

  • Proven experience in tool installation, qualification, production ramp, and supplier management

  • Strong knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), fault detection and classification (FDC), and predictive maintenance methodologies

  • Demonstrated success in leading complex problem-solving efforts using RCA, 8D, or equivalent methodologies

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills
