About Marvell

Marvell’s semiconductor solutions are the essential building blocks of the data infrastructure that connects our world. Across enterprise, cloud and AI, automotive, and carrier architectures, our innovative technology is enabling new possibilities.

At Marvell, you can affect the arc of individual lives, lift the trajectory of entire industries, and fuel the transformative potential of tomorrow. For those looking to make their mark on purposeful and enduring innovation, above and beyond fleeting trends, Marvell is a place to thrive, learn, and lead.

Your Team, Your Impact

As a Principal/Senior Staff Engineer at Marvell, you’ll join the Central Engineering business group—the core hub that powers all product lines including ASIC, Enterprise, Cloud, AI, and Networking. Our small but high-impact analog team is responsible for developing ESD solutions, digital and analog IO pads, and ensuring robust ESD/LUP reviews across all IP before tapeout.

What You Can Expect

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Analog Design Engineer - ESD to lead the development of advanced ESD protection solutions across Marvell’s IP portfolio. This role demands deep technical expertise in analog circuit design, a strong understanding of semiconductor physics, and the ability to innovate under the constraints of cutting-edge process technologies.

You will:

  • Architect and implement ESD protection schemes for high-speed analog and mixed-signal IP.
  • Review circuit and layout designs, perform simulations, and ensure compliance with ESD standards.
  • Collaborate with IP designers to mitigate ESD risks while preserving analog performance.
  • Develop ESD test structures, analyze characterization results and develop esd models.
  • Work on leading-edge nodes including 3nm FinFET and 2nm GAA technologies.
  • Contribute to cross-functional design reviews and mentor junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and validate ESD protection circuits for analog, mixed-signal, and digital IO pads.
  • Perform transistor-level simulations and layout reviews to ensure ESD robustness.
  • Balance protection requirements with performance constraints in high-speed analog circuits.
  • Lead ESD characterization efforts and correlate simulation results with silicon measurements.
  • Interface with layout, system, and packaging teams to ensure design integrity.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging ESD techniques.

What We're Looking For

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 15+ years of experience.
    • Master’s or PhD with 10+ years of experience preferred.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proven track record of successful ESD designs in volume production.
    • Deep understanding of:
      • Transistor-level analog design
      • Semiconductor device physics
      • Analog blocks (regulators, amplifiers, filters, transceivers)
    • Strong proficiency in:
      • ESD/Latchup standards and protection techniques
      • EDA tools (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, SPICE)
      • Design rules for advanced process nodes
    • Experience in:
      • ESD structure design and characterization
      • Debugging and correlating simulation with silicon behavior
