The PositionPortfolio Management Lead – Foundational Products Squad
The Foundational Products Squad (FPS) is a location-agnostic squad composed of members from affiliates across multiple regions. FPS is accountable for the management and performance of a dynamic late-life-cycle portfolio, ensuring sustainable patient access, operational excellence, and long-term enterprise value creation.
As the Portfolio Management Lead, you are accountable for the end-to-end stewardship of the FPS portfolio and the deliberate expansion of FPS scope across markets, products, and portfolio clusters.
You operate with a strong enterprise mindset, shaping portfolio strategy, orchestrating product and affiliate transitions, and identifying internal business development opportunities that allow FPS to scale impact in a planned, value-driven, and system-ready manner.
Your role is not simply to manage what is already in FPS, but to anticipate what should come next — ensuring the right products enter FPS at the right time, under the right conditions, and with a clear value case for the enterprise.
Your accountability spans:
Portfolio analysis, prioritisation, and performance management
Product and affiliate readiness and transition orchestration
Internal development to expand FPS scope across markets and products
Your day may involve analysing portfolio trade-offs, shaping transition strategies with affiliates, facilitating decision forums on FPS expansion, or engaging regional and global stakeholders to align on future onboarding opportunities.
The Opportunity
You spearhead the end-to-end stewardship and strategic expansion of our mature-lifecycle product portfolio across diverse global markets, products, and portfolio clusters.
You drive a strong enterprise mindset, shaping long-term portfolio strategy, managing complex product transitions, and unlocking internal business development opportunities to scale organizational impact.
You proactively anticipate future portfolio needs, evaluating market dynamics and building robust value cases to ensure the right products transition into the squad at the optimal time.
You co-create and continually refine product and market readiness criteria, shifting the organization from a reactive model to a deliberate, planned, and predictable portfolio integration process.
You collaborate with cross-functional experts across local affiliates and global teams, defining short- and mid-term outcomes while nurturing a high-performance, self-managed agile culture.
You act as a key driving force behind our operating model's expansion, identifying operational synergies and championing the portfolio's value proposition to executive stakeholders worldwide.
You lead governance and decision-making forums with transparency, balancing performance, risk, and scalability to drive long-term value and sustainable patient access.
Who You Are
You bring a minimum of 5+ years of experience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, ideally with exposure to multiple geographic markets or cross-border commercial environments.
You possess solid experience in commercial, strategic, or financial roles (such as product marketing, finance, business operations, or portfolio management).
You display strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a proven ability to synthesize complex, high-volume, and ambiguous inputs into clear strategic choices.
You are a natural relationship builder with outstanding interpersonal and English communication skills, capable of influencing without authority and aligning matrixed global stakeholders.
You hold a University degree in science, business, public health, or a related discipline (an MBA or advanced degree is considered a great asset, but is not required).
You thrive in environments that value trust, collaboration, respect, and high performance, showing a strong passion for continuous learning and shared knowledge.
At Roche, you’ll thrive in a culture that values different perspectives and creates a place of belonging, where we challenge ourselves to excel and achieve strong results, together.
