This position will be a hybrid work arrangement, which translates to 3 days per week in the Singapore office.

Our Direct Co-Investment group is looking for a motivated Portfolio Associate to support the fundraising and investment of capital as well as the improvement of business operations. This role will gain exposure to a wide range of activities including portfolio construction and investment allocations, fund management, portfolio analysis and reporting, and the investment process. The Portfolio Associate will also serve as a liaison with internal departments such as Treasury, Accounting, Tax, Legal/Compliance, Client Service, and Investor Relations. The Portfolio Associate will work closely with the Direct Portfolio team in Boston, London, Dublin, Hong Kong, and Singapore as well as the broader global Direct Co-Investment team. Please note that this role is not focused on evaluating and executing direct investments.

What you will do:Direct Investment Monitoring and Operations

Fund-Related

  • Prepare portfolio construction and allocation materials to be presented to HarbourVest Committees
  • Analyze fund capacity, reserves, investment allocation, and investment performance

Portfolio-Related

  • Prepare and maintain monitoring materials for all aspects of the Direct Co-Investment portfolio
  • Maintain and analyze Direct group databases and critical metrics (e.g. deal log, investment activity, investment scores, data integrity of internal systems)
  • Prepare and coordinate materials for internal direct portfolio presentations (e.g. semi-annual portfolio review and annual meeting presentations)

Company-Specific

  • Participate in Direct Co-Investment group discussions in relation to the evaluation of investments
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects in relation to existing portfolio companies

General

  • Find opportunities for continuous improvement and ensure processes are streamlined and scalable
  • Assist with the implementation of Direct Co-Investment group central initiatives, ad-hoc operational projects, and other aspects of group management
  • Respond to internal queries and requests in relation to the Direct Co-Investment portfolio

Client Service

  • Prepare, maintain, and present (where appropriate) materials for HarbourVest’s existing clients, including fund updates
  • Manage separate accounts, including portfolio updates, data room management, and ad-hoc analysis
  • And other responsibilities as required

What you bring:

  • Background in Private Markets preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Intralinks, and DealCloud

Education Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A), Bachelor of Science (B.S), or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • 3-5 Years of relevant experience in Finance or Accounting capacity preferred
