Project Manager Job Description

Dow has an exciting opportunity for an IT/OT Project Manager located in Midland, Freeport, Houston, or any Dow Hub Location in the North America (U.S. & Canada). Will also consider, Terneuzen, NLD.

The Project Manager leads cross functional project teams that deliver work process and technology solutions.  The Project Manager leads project planning and management throughout the project lifecycle, and is accountable for delivering projects on time, within budget, mitigating risk and executing effective change management.

As an IT/OT Project Manager, you will help improve productivity, streamline work processes, ensure successful implementation, and improve our project cost and schedule predictability.

You will manage the critical path of work process & technology projects as well as the overall delivery of solutions into successful support modes. You will also escalate issues which cannot be resolved at the project level to our leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Execution

  • Work with the Project Team to determine Methodology and Establish Project Timeline.
  • Lead COMPASS Session for Project Team and set expectations for the Project.
  • Develop and review Project Estimates
  • Create project plan and tracking metrics through all project phases (Initiation, Planning, Execution, and Closure)
  • Measure and monitor progress, including phase reviews and deliverable reviews and sign offs.
  • Actively manage action register, including timely deliverable review and signoffs
  • Work with Project Team and Stakeholders to ensure a support plan for Run the Business (Transition from Project to Maintain)

Project Management

  • Manage the overall schedule for project delivery.
  • Manage dependencies across projects in the program.
  • Manage integration with other projects and business areas.
  • Manage relationships with all suppliers and subcontractors (monitor progress/adherence to schedule).
  • Manage budget forecasting and cost control for the project.
  • Manage project issues and escalate as required.
  • Ensure project follows methodology/approach to deliver solution.
  • Ensure that Project Deliverables are being created.
  • Support teams on scope change request and schedule implications.
  • Ensure that business partner expectations are understood and managed correctly.
  • Performing project and work arrangement tasks.
  • Completing project performance reports.
  • Ensure that our Project Documentation Archiving Strategy is utilized at the end of the project.

Community and Network

  • Plan, Prepare, and Facilitate Community of Practice Meetings
  • Lead Training Sessions for Functional Project Manager Network

Procurement Work Process

  • Serve as connector and team expert on the IT/OT Procurement Work Process
  • Ensure that all project related purchasing is executed in accordance with our IT/OT Procurement Work Process

Project Management Work Process

  • Ensure that Projects are entered and updated within Planview
  • Ensure that Projects are adhering to the spend limits and being orchestrated through Project and Expense Review Board as needed.
  • Provide continuous improvement to our Project Management Work Process
  • Ensure Project Adherence to the Digital Operations Operating Model

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or relevant military experience at a U.S. E6 rank or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or higher.
  • 6+ years relevant work experience including project management.
  • The ability to work legally in the country for which you are applying. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A degree discipline in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering is Preferred
  • Experience working in an agile environment.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
  • Experience with Planview
  • Basic SAP Skills, and ability to quickly learn how to view project related cost data.

  • Change Management: Change management is a collective term for all approaches to prepare, support, and help individuals, teams, and organizations in making organizational change.
  • Operations: Operations are the business activities that a firm engages in to convert materials into finished products or services, sell them to customers, and earn a profit.
  • Strategic Planning: Strategic planning is an organization's process of defining its strategy, or direction, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this strategy.
  • Program Management:  Program management is the process of managing several related projects, often with the intention of improving an organization's performance. In practice and in its aims, program management is often closely related to systems engineering, industrial engineering, change management, and business transformation.
  • Risk Management:  Risk management is the identification, evaluation, and prioritization of risks followed by coordinated and economical application of resources to minimize, monitor, and control the probability or impact of unfortunate events or to maximize the realization of opportunities.
  • Interpersonal Relationships: Interpersonal skills refer to the ability to communicate, collaborate, and build positive relationships with others. They include active listening, empathy, conflict resolution, and teamwork.
