Role Summary

The Murex Collateral Business Analyst/ Consultant is responsible for gathering business requirements, designing and configuring collateral management processes within the Murex MX.3 platform, and ensuring efficient end-to-end collateral operations for OTC derivatives, securities financing, repos, and other capital market products.

The Business Analyst/ Consultant acts as the bridge between business users, collateral operations, risk management, technology teams, and Murex developers to deliver scalable collateral solutions that comply with regulatory requirements and optimize collateral usage. Typical responsibilities include requirements gathering, functional design, configuration, testing, and support for collateral workflows, dispute management, settlement, and integration with upstream/downstream systems.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis

  • Gather and document business requirements

  • Conduct workshops with collateral operations and business users

  • Prepare: BRD, FRD, Functional Specifications, Use Cases, Gap Analysis

  • Translate business requirements into Murex configuration.

Murex Collateral Configuration

  • Configure and support: Margin Call Processing, Initial Margin (IM), Variation Margin (VM), CSA agreements, Thresholds, Minimum Transfer Amount (MTA), Haircuts, Eligibility Rules, Settlement Instructions, Netting Sets, Margin Period of Risk, Collateral Allocation, Margin Optimization

  • Collateral Operations - Support end-to-end lifecycle including: Exposure calculation, Margin calculation, Margin call generation, Margin reconciliation, Collateral substitution, Collateral settlement, Collateral optimization, Interest calculation, Corporate actions, Rehypothecation, Triparty collateral, Inventory management

Regulatory Support

  • Ensure compliance with: Uncleared Margin Rules (UMR), BCBS-IOSCO, Basel III, SIMM, ISDA CSA, Initial Margin regulations

Integration

  • Work with interfaces between Murex and: SWIFT, AcadiaSoft, Bloomberg, Reuters, Custodian Banks, Settlement Systems, Payment Systems, Market Data, ERP, Data Warehouse

Testing

  • Prepare and execute: SIT, UAT, Regression Testing, Functional Testing, Test Scenarios, Defect Management

Support production releases

Post Go Live Support

  • Incident analysis

  • Root Cause Analysis

  • User support

  • Production issue resolution

  • Release validation

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with: Front Office, Middle Office, Back Office, Risk, Treasury, Operations, Technology, PMO, Vendors, External counterparties

Required Technical Skills

Murex

  • Strong experience in: MX.3, Collateral Management Module, Workflow Configuration, Static Data, MxML, Trade Lifecycle, Trade Events, Batch Processing, Data Dictionary, Market Data Configuration

Capital Markets Knowledge

  • Good understanding of: OTC Derivatives, FX, Interest Rate Swaps, Cross Currency Swaps, Options, Futures, Repos, Securities Lending, Bonds, Money Markets

Collateral Knowledge

  • Must understand: Variation Margin, Initial Margin, CSA, ISDA, Margin Calls, Exposure Management, Dispute Resolution, Haircuts, Thresholds, Independent Amount, MTA, Eligible Collateral, Cash Collateral, Securities Collateral, Triparty Collateral, Collateral Optimization

Functional Knowledge

  • Experience with: Trade Lifecycle, Settlement, Payments, Accounting, Cash Management, Reconciliation, Corporate Actions, Position Management

Technical Skills

  • SQL, Unix/Linux, XML, MxML, Excel (Advanced), API integration, Batch monitoring

  • Support configuration, troubleshooting, and integrations.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication, Stakeholder management, Requirement elicitation, Presentation skills, Problem solving, Analytical thinking, Leadership, Team collaboration, Time management, Client management

Nice to Have
