How you will make an impact:

  • Support and manage the Edwards Global Privacy program in the JAPAC region.

  • Day-to-day management and enhancement of Edwards Global Privacy program to be effective, practical, patient-focused, and sustainable, based on an appropriate assessment of Edwards privacy risks, and provide subject matter expertise and appropriate guidance on identification and implementation of measures to comply with all privacy and data protection laws and regulations globally.

  • Responsible for the analysis of privacy issues and development of solutions to complex problems while maintaining broad perspective.

  • Manages Day-to-day privacy issues impacting Edwards operations regionally, including monitoring of legislative developments.

  • Close collaboration with Data Governance and IT Security functions.

  • Oversight of key provisions in all contracts to assure compliance with privacy and data protection requirements.

  • Assessment of Data Subject Requests under various laws and regulations.

  • Identifying training needs among business stakeholders and developing / presenting training and education regarding privacy requirements and developments.

  • Working in close cooperation with other in-house counsel to coordinate and streamline efforts for global efficiency.

  • Developing a thorough understanding of and familiarity with Edwards’ business, its people, products, markets, facilities, customers, and competitors and use this knowledge in providing guidance and counsel to Edwards business partners.

  • Performing special assignments or projects if necessary, and other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What you’ll need (Required):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law or related fields with the minimum of 5 years regional experience in Legal required.

  • Other: Relevant industry experience (e.g., medical device, pharmaceuticals, etc.) or in highly regulated environments recommended.

What else we look for (Preferred):

  • Familiarity and experience with Asian / JAPAC privacy laws, rules and regulations – experience in Asia highly preferred.

  • Ability to work closely with in-house counsel in international jurisdictions.

  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in regional privacy and data protection requirements in the JAPAC region, including APPI, PIPL, DPDPA and country-level requirements required.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to gain the trust of and form solid relationships with business partners in various functions as well as Legal Department colleagues.

  • Highly Preferred: IAPP certification, CIPP-A

  • Preferred: Familiarity and experience with artificial intelligence governance

  • Decision-making ability and experience.

  • Problem-solver – able to find practical solutions and provide practical guidance.

  • Accountable and hands-on, self-starter, results oriented.

  • Desire to deeply understand products and business.

  • Able to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with medical device or pharmaceutical industry preferred.

  • Excellent analytical, detail-oriented, organized and information seeking skills.

  • Excellent organization and time management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectives.

  • Strict attention to detail.

  • Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels and proactively escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in the organization.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to represent the privacy function on initiatives within multiple area or campaigns, interfacing with project managers, legal team, and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Adhere to all EHS rules and requirements and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control.

  • Fluent in English and local language
