As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll leverage your strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to process and resolve mechanical problems, design and implement custom mechanical tooling and associated processes, and enable the handling, assembly, and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle. You'll be responsible for designing, developing, and modifying mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, and specifications. You will oversee manufacturing and installation processes, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations-- and you'll coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects, identifying sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve technical issues.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and testing of PECVD chambers under general supervision, supporting investigations involving gas flow, pressure control, thermal performance, RF/plasma behavior, and interactions between these subsystems affecting process performance.
  • Provide quick-turn engineering support for lab chambers and qualification activities, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, hardware inspections, and restoration of chamber performance to support development and customer commitments.
  • Design and implement mechanical modifications, part rework, tooling, fixturing, and assembly solutions to improve chamber performance, reliability, serviceability, and execution speed within the lab environment.
  • Support procurement, assembly, installation, and qualification of chamber hardware and subsystems, including faceplates, heaters, pumping components, gas delivery systems, RF hardware, and other mechanical assemblies required for development programs.
  • Maintain chamber health and lab readiness by monitoring hardware condition, wear mechanisms, chamber matching, preventive maintenance requirements, and overall system performance to ensure reliable operation.
  • Support chamber characterization, engineering experiments, and customer issue replication activities, including data collection, analysis, and implementation of lab upgrades required to reproduce field conditions and accelerate root cause resolution.
  • Drive lab chamber enhancement and configuration conversion projects to enable new gases, new process capabilities, and roadmap development activities, including participation in gas panel reviews, safety reviews, and hardware review boards.
  • Document engineering evaluations, test results, troubleshooting findings, qualification reports, and product release documentation, while working closely with Product Engineering, Process Engineering, Operations, Facilities, and global teams to improve lab capability, chamber uptime, and development efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-4 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working experience with CAD software, thermodynamics, sheet metal design, material selection, manufacturing methods, GD&T, flow analysis and/or Design for Excellence principles
