Job DescriptionOverall Purpose
- Analyses and reports all aspects of Market Risk for the Freight and FFS (*) Platforms.
- Provides a regional (i.e. Asia) assistance for other Platforms present in both regions (G&O, Cotton, Sugar, Coffee) to the people in our team responsible for those. In this capacity, (s)he acts as a liaison between local commercial personnel and the main risk managers for those platforms.
- Oversees the daily production of quantitative market risk metrics and qualitative assessment of potential risks to the company portfolio due to change in market conditions.
- Provides insight on global macroeconomic aspects and helps to introduce models that will incorporate them to our stress tests.

Main Responsibilities
- Analyse, assess, and quantify the risks associated with products/individual applications/business activities/the market to determine whether any risk is within the agreed risk appetite. Undertake tactical risk modelling.
- Manage and report on performance within the departments or areas of responsibility; set appropriate performance objectives for eventual direct reports and hold them accountable for achieving these; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives.
- Identify and communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the business area or department; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision and values; motivate people to commit to these.
- Provide informal training or coaching to others throughout the organization in own areas of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfil personal potential.
- Contribute to develop and/or deliver a plan for significant aspects of the risk management and/or control process.
- As a Risk Manager, analyse and report all aspects of the activity of the platforms assigned to them. This involves:
- Analysing positions, extracting all underlying strategies, knowing their risk from all possible aspects (not just VaR) and being able to discuss it with the commercial team as well as management, pointing out potential risks ahead of occurrence
- Reviewing structured transactions
- Observing and reporting adherence to trader mandates and limits imposed
- Working with the Risk Systems team to establish better practices
- Handling limit breaches, assisting in setting risk capital.
- Be in regular contact with Finance/Controllers and, critically, with traders and commercial management.
- As a Sr. Market Risk team member, they will need to liaise with local commercial personnel, be knowledgeable about their activities and be aware of Asian market developments that might affect the company’s PnL. They will further have to communicate such information to all relevant platform Risk managers.
Experience:
- Experienced in Market risk or equivalent to carry out the duties described above (8+ years)
- Good knowledge of commodity trading, and in particular on Dry Bulk Freight.
- Quantitative finance degree and macroeconomic knowledge are a plus

- Familiarity with variety of trading systems, excel, PowerBI, risk systems
- Personable, well spoken, friendly, good in negotiating solutions, flexible.
