What will you do as a Manager Operations?
As a Manager Operations, you will be responsible for leading terminal operations employees to achieve goals within budgeted funds, cost effectiveness and manpower planning as well as to ensure the smooth and safe day to day operations of the terminal.

What do we expect from you as a Manager Operations?
At least a Diploma and/or degree equivalent with terminal Operations experience
6-9 years of experience in similar role and industry
Preferable to have experience in industrial / batch process plant
Preferable to have experience in leading a diverse team and role as change maker
Excellent planning and tactical conceptualisation abilities in operational problem-solving
Strong data analysis acumen and ability to transform findings into opportunities for improvement
Good knowledge of operations, safety and product knowledge
Knowledge of safety, health and environment practices
Demonstrated leadership and people management skills
Ability to manage conflict effectively and amicably, arriving at a balanced outcome
Demonstrated depth and breadth of general managerial experience
Positive stakeholder management capabilities with strong communications skills
Individuals with dynamism and the desire to work in an intense and demanding environment
Good knowledge in heat exchangers, refrigeration systems and chiller units.
Good knowledge in Vapour treatment system, Flares, Ground combustors, Flameless Thermal Oxidizers and scrubber units.
Good knowledge in utilities system such as compressors, cooling towers, nitrogen/seal gas system
Knowledge of tanks, pumps and pipelines will be advantageous
Your core responsibilities are:
Manage day to day operations of the terminal to ensure quality services and outputs
Undertake terminal operations and integrate processes horizontally over multiple shifts with proactive stance in service delivery solutioning
Drive all-aspect service excellence by means of elevating the organisational behaviour, culture and thinking in service design, planning, execution and follow-up on operational matters
Act as the Site Main Controller during emergencies in the absence of Terminal Manager
Function as part of the Management Team in a dynamic fashion in driving progress and success for the organisation
Lead and investigate incidents, near miss observations, and spearhead all corrective actions
Drive understanding and enhancement of the activities in the organisation by means of data analytics and objectives assessments
Establish effective communication between customers and internal parties particularly in delivery needs and requirements
Ensure site and operations preparedness prior and during customer audits
Lead terminal new projects in safe operations and commissioning of new facilities
Plan and coordinate plant shutdown maintenance and commissioning back system
Support Innovation and POC in Vopak
Contribute to the development of annual and longer-term business plans, forecast performance against business key performance indicators, develop business case for new projects and estimate financial and resources required to deliver performance targets
Manage department resources on supporting terminal operations or company on ad hoc projects and activities
Drive energy and cost saving effort in line with organization sustainability goals
Lead Operations manpower deployment, resource planning and shift scheduling
Manage the Operations annual budget plan and quarterly latest estimates reporting, and drive cost-consciousness results in all matters of operations
Support in Commercial Inquiry from the Commercial team on the feasibility of a new product or project
Monitor and review operations on site are carried out in accordance with safety, health, environment and loss preventive policies, rules, regulations and according to company’s standards
Lead and act to improve performance and to resolve non-compliance in accordance with SHE policies, procedures and ensure company’s standards are met
Ensure operations employees are trained on SHE and regulatory training to perform their roles effectively
Drive for continuous safety performance for operations employees and contractors
Ensure that terminal operations meet SHE standards and Proactive SHE Culture, Vopak fundamentals and standards are adhered to by the Operations teams
Lead team discipline in VF and compliance
Employ innovative and critical-thinking in optimizing processes, procedures and implement initiatives that create value in creating enhanced effectiveness and efficiency in the organization
Create and implement continuous improvement and self-directing organization that aligns with the values of the Company
Act as the Process Owner of all Safe Work Procedure (SWP) and Safe Work Instruction (SWI)
Act as the Process Owner of Stock Management & Accuracy
Ensure the Process Safety Risk Management
Manage LOPC and/or Product Contamination / Quality Incidents and mitigation plans
Ensure operations procedures (SWP, SWI, and relevant procedures) are available, regularly reviewed, updated and executed
Train on people development and training recommendations to ensure Operations personnel’s skills and core competencies
Ensure operations employees are trained and qualified as competent to perform the assigned tasks
Drive organizational development by focusing on people development, organizational discipline and systemizing processes and procedures
Promote employee engagement opportunities and continually elevate positive organizational team dynamics within and across functions
Proactively handle employee relations concerns in the Operations department
Ensure in depth and ongoing personal performance review and development planning with all team members
Mentor and counsel team members
Ensure proper on the job training time and materials for joiners
Provide industry, business, product training relevant for the job
Ensure appropriate daily team staffing and back-up system
Manages, motivates and develops staff in the terminal operations teams
