The Legal, Risk & Compliance (LRC) team at Airwallex is a collaborative group of legal minds and risk management experts. What you’ll do
We are seeking a strategic and diligent (Senior) Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to join the Global Governance and Testing Team. In this high-impact, global role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the robustness and effectiveness of our first and second-line financial crime controls. You will act as an independent and objective assurance personnel to carry out regular QA reviews, evaluations and testings. The QA Manager will also be responsible for maintaining the QA framework, developing the QA plan, key stakeholder management on the observations and recommendation. This role offers the unique opportunity to shape our QA framework and directly contribute to the safety and security of a leading fintech platform. The ideal candidate will enjoy solving complex problems, seeking creative solutions, and moving quickly while ensuring comprehensive results.
Responsibilities:
Strategy & Framework: Lead the continuous refinement of the global FCC QA methodology, framework, and tools, ensuring they align with regulatory expectations, industry best practices, and Airwallex's evolving risk profile.
End-to-End QA Execution: Plan, scope, and execute independent QA reviews across the full spectrum of FCC to assess both the design and operational effectiveness of controls.
Risk-Based Analysis: Apply a deep understanding of applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., AML/CFT, OFAC, etc.) to design and execute risk-based testing programs that accurately identify control gaps, root causes, and areas of non-compliance.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Proactively communicate findings, potential issues, and emerging risks to senior management and key stakeholders. Partner with control owners to develop pragmatic and effective remediation plans
Reporting & Governance: Prepare clear, concise, and impactful QA reports for senior management. Meticulously document workpapers to support conclusions and ensure a clear audit trail. Escalate potential issues and exception items noted during the review process to senior management.
Issue Management: Manage the end-to-end issue tracking process, from identification in the central risk repository through to validation of remediation actions, ensuring timely and sustainable closure.
Culture Champion: Actively promote a strong risk culture and understand Airwallex's risk appetite and risk culture across the business through your interactions and findings.
Who you are
We're looking for candidates who meet the minimum requirements for the role. Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Law, Compliance or a related field.
Proven experiences (3-5 years for Manager, 6-8+ years for Senior Manager) in QA, testing, and governance roles within FCC (AML/CTF, sanctions, fraud) or other risk related fields at a regulated financial institution, fintech, or payments company.
Familiar with the fintech and payments industry and its associated financial crime risks.
Strong project management with a track record of driving complex reviews to completion with minimal supervision.
Strong stakeholder management skills to ensure QA review completion and seek stakeholder buy-in.
Strong research and writing skills with experience drafting formal QA reports and presenting findings to senior audiences.
Analytical problem-solver with the ability to synthesize complex information from multiple sources to form clear, evidence-based conclusions.
Willingness to learn and adapt in a high-paced environment
High level of integrity, discretion, and sound judgment when handling sensitive matters.
Preferred qualifications:
A relevant professional certification (e.g., CAMS, or equivalent).
Experience with QA testing of AI/Machine Learning-driven financial crime systems and controls.
Experience working in a fast-paced, global, and multi-cultural environment.
