This role has become available in Zendesk at a really exciting time for the Employee Relations team. We’re currently embarking on a strategic initiative to shift the Employee Relations team from a reactive escalation point to being a proactive center of excellence. It is a full time position leading the regional ER team and reporting into the Global ER Director based in San Francisco.
The role is based in Singapore where key stakeholders are based including the APJ regional employment counsel and HR Director. The successful candidate will lead and manage employee relations strategies and initiatives across the region. Partnering with other People team leaders, legal and local leaders this role will proactively address employee concerns, lead local grievance and disciplinary procedures and support organizational changes.
Role:
Lead the regional ER team locally.
Develop and implement regional employee relations strategies that align with business goals and local requirements.
Provide expert advice and guidance to your team and directly to managers and other stakeholders on handling employee relations issues such as disciplinary actions, grievances, conflict resolution and performance management.
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of employee relations practices across Zendesk’s global APJ locations and partner with in-house employment legal and compliance to ensure policies and practices meet local requirements.
Analyze local employee relations data and trends to recommend proactive solutions and drive continuous improvement.
Work with centres of excellence within the People Team to create programs that enhance or support employee relations initiatives such as working with our talent development team on manager training.
Build a collaborative and cohesive working partnership with the international and global HRBP team.
Personally manage complex employee relations cases and investigations locally.
Requirements
Extensive experience in Employee Relations and labor law across APJ and experience in conducting multi-jurisdiction investigations
Proven track record of leading a regional Employee Relations team in companies experiencing growth and/or change
Experience navigating complex employee relations issues in a multicultural and multinational business environment with nuanced cultural sensitivities
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization
Exceptional ability to exercise considerable judgment, conflict resolution and discretion in in sensitive, complex or ambiguous situations
Ability to prioritize and work proactively in a fast paced environment with time sensitive deadlines
Proactive solutions oriented approach with strong problem solving capabilities

The global Employee Relations team is distributed around the world and works across multiple time zones with stakeholders across the business.
The APAC ER team members are based in the Philippines with expected growth this year in India.
