Job Description

What a Data Science Manager does at Visa:

The Data Science Manager will be the strategic orchestrator of our data and analytics ecosystem, translating complex business challenges into impactful data solutions for our clients. This role requires a visionary who can integrate business strategy with technical execution, managing entire lifecycle of data products. You will identify, prioritize, and drive data initiatives to uncover strategic insights, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to convert raw data into actionable business value.

Qualifications

What you will need: 

  • Degree in Business/ Statistics/ Mathematics/Computer Science with 5-8 years of relevant experience in database marketing, customer data analytics or customer data science.
  • Strong technical skills with a focus on data analytics
  • Experience handling large datasets on transaction-heavy platforms
  • Hands-on experience with optimization engines for targeted marketing offers
  • Proficiency in working within data science teams, and product teams utilizing the latest software including capable experience with latest tools like SQL, SAS, R, HADOOP, PYTHON, SPARK, HANA, TABLEAU, and other latest data platforms
  • Ability to work independently and manage ambiguity
  • Strong problem-solving skills and clear, structural thinking
  • Highly motivated, meticulous and results oriented
  • Resourceful with excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and project management skills
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across various functions

What will also help:

  • Preferably with working experience in commercial or operational decision-making
  • Preferably worked on retail and new e-biz enabled models, including data architecture or data engineering.

Projects you will be a part of:

  • Analyse business performance and trends to identify potential opportunities for sales growth
  • Conduct in-depth analysis to understand key sales drivers and develop actionable business recommendations
  • Identify customer segments and understand their buying behavior, demographics and life stage to develop engagement strategies 
  • Measure the effectiveness of pricing and promotional activities in stores
  • Develop recommendations for different promotional mechanics
  • Uncover insights, both descriptive and predictive, for the end-to-end customer management journey, including acquisition, utilisation, retention and reactivation
  • Develop dashboards to enable self-service analytics across various functions within the organization
  • Drive transformational change towards customer centricity and data driven decision making within the organization
