Manage internal audit and compliance consultation services for financial clients, focusing on regulatory advice, compliance reviews, and developing strategies while leading a team and ensuring project delivery.
You will be working with our highly motivated team of professionals to provide internal audit and compliance consultation services to our wide range of local and international clients. You will be expected to gain exposure other than project execution skills as you be provided opportunity to participate in decision making, building relationship with internal and external stakeholders in an open, positive and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Providing regulatory advice to financial services clients such as banks/payments/Fintech companies (remittance, merchant acquisition, money-changing etc.) on areas relating to risk, regulations and compliance.
- Conducting compliance reviews and internal audits, and formulating recommendations for processes and controls to better comply with regulatory requirements, regulators’ expectations and industry/market practices.
- Perform assurance engagements in compliance with professional standards, AML/KYC, MAS regulatory reporting and related compliance areas.
- Propose resolutions to accounting and auditing issues.
- Review information accompanying the assurance report in accordance with the applicable framework
- Identify areas for personal development to improve work performance
- Prior experience with business development, including developing ‘go-to’ market strategies;
- Planning and deliver engagements, including managing stakeholders, timelines and budgets;
- Lead and coach junior team members to achieve technical competency and efficient performance
- Good project management skills, including managing key stakeholder relationships, communication of the scope of work, findings and observations and industry updates.
Requirements
- Degree in Accountancy, preferably with a recognised professional qualification
- Preferably at least 4-5 years of relevant experience in internal audit services in a Big 4 or mid-tier professional services firm or internal audit function of a multi-national or publicly-listed firm. Previous employment with regulator(s) will be highly preferred.
- Experience in local MAS regulatory requirements preferred. This includes Banking Act, Payments Act, Individual Accountability and Conduct, Securities and Futures Act, Financial Advisers Act, amongst others.
- Good understanding of the banks/insurance/payments/Fintech companies (remittance, merchant acquisition, money-changing etc.) landscape
- Good communications, analytical and problem-solving skills as well as being adept to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment
- Possess positive “can do” attitude to challenges and the agility to multitask effectively across competing priorities
