The Legal team at Stripe is growing, and we’re looking for a motivated individual to join our Legal Operations team! We work on complex technical and legal problems every day, and we’re excited to have you join the team. 


Stripe’s global Legal Operations team is responsible for handling responses to information requests from government agencies directing Stripe to produce or assist governmental entities in obtaining information for civil, administrative, and criminal purposes.  The Legal Process Specialist is a critical team member in responding to all aspects of legal process work and ensuring Stripe complies with all legal obligations while confirming that all government requests for customer data are valid and consistent with applicable law.


The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, eager to learn and grow, and will be able to prioritize, juggle competing priorities, and be extremely responsive in a fast-paced environment, all while maintaining excellent relationships with their team and internal clients. 


In this role you will:

  • Analyze, accurately assess and respond to a variety of civil and criminal requests 
  • Track metrics to identify key trends.
  • Develop policies and processes for responding to a large volume of legal requests. 
  • Be a key partner to litigation attorneys on escalated issues.
  • Work cross-functionally with teams across Stripe including but not limited to Risk, Financial Crimes, and Trust and Safety.

You might be a fit if you have:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar role, including at least 2 years’ experience handling government requests for information. In-house experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong familiarity SQL generally.
  • Fluent speaking/writing in Japanese
  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong project-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple, high-priority projects in a highly demanding environment.
  • The ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, both on the legal team and in the rest of the company, clearly and concisely.
  • The ability to learn new software systems and tools.
  • An extremely responsive and collaborative team-player mentality.
  • Excellent judgment and demonstrated ability to handle time-sensitive work.
  • Worked on a wide variety of projects, learned new things, and directed your own work from day to day.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Passion for Stripe's mission of helping businesses grow and thrive.
