Lead the legal function at Nansen, drafting contracts, advising on cryptocurrency regulations, and managing corporate governance matters in a remote-first environment.

The successful candidate will ideally be based in Singapore, where our headquarters is located.
The Opportunity:You will be leading the legal function within Nansen and operate with a high degree of autonomy. This includes shaping the form and function of the contracts that govern our relationships with our customers and partners, and the frameworks that guide our people. As such, your contributions will have a big impact in taking Nansen’s business to the next level.
Key Responsibilities:You will provide legal support across multiple units with different business requirements, in the form of:
- Structuring, drafting, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements with blockchain foundations and entities, outsourced service providers, and partners.
- Understanding the risks to the business and providing practical advice on areas such as regulations applicable to cryptocurrency and payment services activities, marketing and customer loyalty programmes, intellectual property, and data protection, engaging external counsel as needed.
- Maintaining Nansen’s rights and obligations relating to corporate governance through liaising with external corporate secretaries and shareholders where required.
- Advise on a wide range of legal matters and ad hoc queries, including strategic mergers and acquisitions, investments, employment, and procurement.
The ideal candidate for us is:
- A Singapore-qualified lawyer, with at least 3 to 5 years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house counsel role. Preferably, you should have experience working with, or in, a growth-stage technology startup, and you are familiar with cryptocurrency and DeFi concepts (e.g., staking, restaking, validators, nodes, and wallets).
- Experienced in corporate and commercial matters, with excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
- Commercially astute, highly-driven and focused on achieving practical outcomes.
- Able to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to internal stakeholders.
- Well-organised and able to prioritise and deliver on multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
