We are looking for a commercially minded Legal Counsel to support APM Terminals’ investments and projects across Asia Pacific. Partnering closely with the Business Implementation Management and Regional Investments teams, you will provide practical legal advice across the project lifecycle—from investment and execution through construction, development and operational readiness. You will navigate complex commercial and legal matters, influence senior stakeholders and enable sound business decisions through pragmatic risk management.

The role reports to the Head of Legal, Projects & Investments, APM Terminals (APMT) Asia Pacific, based in Singapore

What We Offer

You will join an international business at the centre of global trade, working alongside experienced colleagues across legal, investments, finance, tax, compliance and project delivery. The role offers exposure to strategically important infrastructure projects and the opportunity to shape solutions with visible regional impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a trusted legal advisor on infrastructure investments and project delivery across Asia Pacific, coordinating with regional and global legal teams and functions including Finance, Tax and Compliance.

  • Advise on concession tenders and extensions, joint ventures, etc.

  • Support the implementation of greenfield and brownfield concessions and terminal expansion projects.

  • Draft, review and negotiate complex project, construction and development agreements, including EPC and FIDIC-based contracts.

  • Advise on concession compliance and project delivery risks, including delays, variations, performance security, defects, claims and dispute avoidance.

  • Negotiate with partners, counterparties, contractors and governmental authorities while safeguarding APM Terminals’ commercial and legal interests.

  • Promote consistent contract governance and manage external legal counsel and related budgets when required.

Who We Are Looking For
  • A qualified lawyer in a recognised jurisdiction; common-law qualification is preferred.

  • At least 8 years of relevant post-qualification experience, ideally gained through a combination of a leading law firm and an in-house role within a multinational organisation.

  • Strong experience in major projects, infrastructure investments and international commercial transactions, including EPC contracting and construction claims.

  • Knowledge of FIDIC contracts, concessions, joint ventures or port and terminal infrastructure would be an advantage.

  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage complex, high-value agreements independently.

  • Strong commercial judgement and a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to legal risk.

  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and work effectively across functions, cultures and jurisdictions.

  • Excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in another Asian language would be an advantage.

  • Willingness and ability to travel regionally, approximately 10–20% of the time.
