Job Description

Role Summary

The Lead Systems Engineer is responsible for defining the manufacturing transformation roadmap and leading the execution of transformation initiatives across Philips manufacturing sites. The role collaborates closely with internal and external

stakeholders to drive digitalization, Industry 4.0 adoption, and continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the manufacturing technology and transformation roadmap, including technology scouting, strategy development, and implementation planning.

  • Lead and execute manufacturing transformation projects from concept through implementation.

  • Conceptualize, design, and implement manufacturing systems using systems thinking and architectural principles, incorporating both technological and human-centered solutions.

  • Initiate and drive continuous improvement projects to enhance manufacturing processes and operational performance.

  • Collaborate with internal and external technology partners to pilot, validate, and industrialize Industry 4.0 technologies.

  • Ensure all activities are executed with quality embedded into the way of working while adhering to safety, regulatory, environmental, cost, and compliance requirements, including local laws, Philips General Business Principles, and company policies.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing, operations, engineering, industrial engineering, or systems engineering environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to translate manufacturing and factory business processes into digital solutions that improve efficiency, reduce resource utilization, and shorten cycle times.

  • Ability to design and develop digital solutions that provide real-time visualization of key operational metrics, enabling timely decision-making and corrective actions.

  • Experience in developing simulation models for manufacturing operations to support scenario analysis and operational improvements.

  • Ability to develop dashboards and digital management tools that enable factory leaders to monitor performance and drive timely corrective actions.

  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0 concepts, Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI), and Future Factory initiatives.

  • Strong understanding and practical application of Lean Manufacturing principles.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.
Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.
