Lead Solutions Architect – Forge Digital, Smart Buildings & Sustainability

Location: Singapore
Organization: Buildings AI Centre of Excellence /Forge Platform
Domain: Industrial IoT, Smart Buildings, Energy & Sustainability

Role Summary

As a Lead Solutions Architect within the Forge Digital COE, you will own end-to-end solution architecture for Forge-aligned digital platforms supporting smart buildings, energy management, and sustainability use cases.

You will act as a platform and solution architecture authority, ensuring all solutions align with Forge reference architectures, cloud standards, and COE governance models, while delivering scalable, secure, and reusable capabilities across customers and programs. The role combines deep technical leadership, architectural governance, and innovation across cloud, data, IoT, and AI-enabled solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Forge-Aligned Solution Architecture Ownership

  • Own end-to-end solution architecture for Forge-based digital solutions, from requirements interpretation through design, implementation, and production.
  • Translate business and operational drivers (energy efficiency, sustainability metrics, asset optimization) into Forge-aligned logical and physical architectures.
  • Ensure solutions conform to COE reference architectures, design principles, and non-functional requirements (scalability, availability, security, cost).
  • Serve as the final architectural authority across solution delivery, ensuring alignment to long-term Forge platform strategy.

Cloud-Native & Azure Reference Architecture

  • Define, apply, and evolve Forge cloud-native architecture standards on Microsoft Azure, including:
    • Microservices-based service design
    • API-first and event-driven integration patterns
    • Data ingestion, data platforms, and analytics reference architectures
    • CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps, and release governance
    • Identity, access management, and security baselines
  • Guide engineering teams on implementation using containers (Docker, Kubernetes), serverless services, and managed Azure capabilities.
  • Ensure solutions meet Forge reliability, observability, resilience, and security benchmarks.

Smart Buildings, Energy & IoT Integration Architecture

  • Architect Forge solutions integrating:
    • Building Management Systems (BMS)
    • Energy Management Systems (EMS)
    • HVAC and automation platforms
    • IoT devices, edge gateways, and telemetry pipelines
    • Enterprise IT, data, and digital twin platforms
  • Define scalable ingestion, normalization, and analytics architectures to support monitoring, optimization, and insight generation.
  • Drive reusability and standardization across customer implementations through common services and shared components.

Gen AI & Agentic AI within Forge Platforms

  • Drive R&D and incubation initiatives for Gen AI and Agentic AI use cases aligned to Forge digital platforms.
  • Identify, prototype, and mature capabilities such as:
    • Intelligent assistants embedded in Forge applications
    • Autonomous agents for monitoring, diagnostics, and optimization
    • AI-driven insights for energy optimization, predictive maintenance, and ESG reporting
  • Establish reference architectures, guardrails, and accelerators for safe and scalable AI adoption across Forge solutions.

Architectural Governance & COE Leadership

  • Provide architectural governance through design reviews, standards definition, and exception management.
  • Chair or contribute to Architecture Review Boards (ARBs) and technical governance forums.
  • Ensure delivery teams adhere to COE architecture, security, and quality standards.
  • Mentor architects and senior engineers, building architectural maturity and platform thinking across the organization.

Cross‑Functional Platform Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product Management, Platform Engineering, Data Science, and Core Services teams.
  • Influence Forge product roadmaps and technical strategy through architectural insights and customer learnings.
  • Contribute to the development of reference architectures, design guidelines, and reusable assets.

Technology Radar & Continuous Evolution

  • Track and evaluate emerging technologies across:
    • Cloud-native platforms and DevSecOps
    • Smart building and energy ecosystems
    • Sustainability regulations and reporting frameworks
    • AI, ML, and autonomous system advancements
  • Feed insights into Forge technology radar, COE standards, and platform evolution plans.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Master’s degree is an advantage

Experience

  • 10+ years in software engineering, solution architecture, or platform architecture
  • Proven experience owning enterprise-scale, production-grade architectures
  • Experience within COE, platform, or shared-services operating models preferred
  • Background in smart buildings, IoT, energy, or sustainability platforms is highly desirable

Technical Expertise

  • Azure & Cloud Platforms: App Services, Functions, data services, identity, security, Azure DevOps
  • Architecture: Microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, data platforms
  • Engineering: Full-stack experience (C#, .NET, React, Python, Node.js)
  • Containers & DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines
  • Security: Cloud security architecture, IAM, zero-trust principles
