Job DescriptionAs a Lead Software Engineer – ServiceNow CMDB, you will play a key role in the architecture, development, and evolution of our Configuration Management Database (CMDB) capabilities on the ServiceNow platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate data modeling, automation of discovery processes, and integration with external systems, enabling world-class service management capabilities within IFS.
You’ll be part of a highly skilled and motivated global engineering team delivering innovative and scalable solutions within the IFS Service Management domain.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and implementation of ServiceNow CMDB solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and business requirements and optimal CI class design, relationship mapping, and automation.
Define data models and CI class structures that support complex infrastructure and application landscapes.
Lead technical implementation of ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, and integrations with external data sources to maintain CMDB accuracy.
Establish and enforce CMDB governance, lifecycle, reconciliation, and data quality processes.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers and contribute to knowledge-sharing across the team.
Collaborate with enterprise architects, service owners, and platform teams to align CMDB with ITSM, ITOM, and digital services goals.
Support upgrades, performance tuning, and custom development as needed on the ServiceNow platform and ensure best practices in ServiceNow development
To be successful in the role you will have:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
7+ years of professional experience in enterprise software development, with a Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience specifically with ServiceNow CMDB implementations and configurations including data modeling, CI class structure, Discovery, and integrations.
Proficiency in JavaScript, REST/SOAP APIs, and ServiceNow development tools (Flow Designer, Business Rules, Script Includes).
- Deep understanding of ITIL v3/v4 frameworks, particularly Configuration Management and IT Operations.
Proven experience with ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, Tag based applications, MID Servers, and orchestration tools.
ServiceNow certifications such as Certified Implementation Specialist – CMDB or Discovery, and Certified Application Developer are highly preferred.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and tools like JIRA, GitHub/GitLab, Jenkins.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence technical direction and mentor peers.
Hands-on experience with ServiceNow CSM (Customer Service Management) and ITSM (IT Service Management) modules, including workflow customization, integration, and automation would be an added advantage.
