Planning (LP) and Real-Time Process Optimization (RTO/APC Interface)
Technical Lead in Unified Supply Chain and Process Optimization Software
Location: Singapore / Malaysia / Thailand
Role Overview
You will lead delivery of AVEVA solutions across Planning and Process Optimization. Typical focus split (indicative, varies by project pipeline) is 60% Planning (LP) + Enterprise Optimization, and 40% Process Optimization. Process Optimization scope typically includes APC/RTO interface support, constraint/target strategy, model validation against plant data, and deployment support with plant historians.
You will own solution design, model build, validation and testing, and drive customer alignment from engineering teams through to leadership.
Success in this role requires strong modelling fundamentals, structured troubleshooting, and the ability to convert ambiguous business needs into executable model logic and measurable value.
Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation
Lead solution design workshops (scope, data, acceptance criteria)
Lead preparation and review of Functional Design Specification (FDS) documents
Configure and build models in AVEVA Spiral (planning/enterprise optimisation) and ROMeo (process optimisation)
Model build, validation and troubleshooting (infeasibilities, convergence issues, data quality problems and unexpected results)
Define and execute model reviews, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
Prepare comprehensive project documentation
Training & Application Support
Delivery of user training
Provide ongoing application support (on-site and remote)
Presales Support
Support discovery sessions and technical solutioning with Sales/Presales
Contribute to proposals scope, assumptions, risks, delivery approach, effort estimates, and acceptance criteria
Support in presenting solution concepts and value case to client stakeholders
Travel Requirements
Willingness to travel up to 30% (domestic and international) during project execution and presales support
Qualifications & Experience
Required
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in chemical, industrial or related engineering
10 to 15+ years of experience in refinery, petrochemical and chemical relevant project exposure
5+ years of hands-on experience in refinery planning (LP) model building, debugging and case analysis using industry tools such as AspenTech PIMS, Honeywell’s RPMS, Haverly’s GRTMPS or equivalent.
3+ years of hands-on experience supporting process optimization initiatives (e.g., APC/RTO concepts, target/constraint strategy, validation against plant historian data, and deployment support).
Analysis of technical requirements, solving detailed technical problems and providing solutions
Good commercial awareness
Strong presentation skills (technical and executive audience)
Fluent in English (spoken and written)
Desirable
Prior experience with AVEVA USC software (e.g. Spiral Assay, Plan and Network)
Prior experience with AVEVA RTO ROMeo software
Familiarity with refining economics, crude valuation, and enterprise-optimization
Understanding of systems integration and architecture
Experience with plant data systems (e.g., OSI PI, Honeywell PHD, LIMS)
Fluent in Chinese (spoken)
