JOB DESCRIPTIONKeppel is a global asset manager and operator with strong expertise in sustainability-related solutions spanning the areas of infrastructure, real estate and connectivity.
This role sits within the Environment department in Keppel's Infrastructure Division.
In this role, associates will get full exposure to the end-to end operations and maintenance of a Waste-to-Energy (WTE) plant in both technical and management. We are hoping to groom the incumbent as the future leader in our WTE plants.
Daily Responsibilities:
• Support the Operations/Maintenance Manager in the control of operations, maintenance, consumables, manpower and its budget.
• Satisfy Primary Customers (National Environment Agency, Keppel Infrastructure Trust) and build up good relationships between all stakeholders.
• Efficient running of the plant and satisfy NEA ISA, KIT, Statutory/Regulatory requirements
• Assist Operations Manager to manage and be responsible for the safe, efficient and smooth operation of the plant’s critical and auxiliary equipment inclusive of the Boilers and steam Turbo-Generator.
• Assist in the activities of Central Control Room (CCR), Weighbridge, Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant, Overhaul, reception hall, bunker management and other general plant matters.
• Ensure that incidents (if any) are well-handled and properly documented with minimum disruption to operations.
• Enforce plant safety procedures and achieve good safety record.
• Co-ordinate with Maintenance Section in matters related to plant operation and maintenance.
• Assist in matters relating to maintenance activities (both Mechanical and Electrical) inclusive of Overhaul, Preventive Maintenance (PM), Corrective Maintenance (CM) and Predictive Maintenance.
• Monitor plant parameters and make adjustments/troubleshoot at the site to ensure parameters are within limits, including temperature, pressure, flue gas emissions, etc
• Update plant status – informing equipment failure or situation in time to immediate superior or Central Control Room
• Be responsible for resolution of Jobcards (J/C) & Permit-to-Work (PTW) and the safety associated. Enforcement of Permit-to-Work (PTW) System with good Risk Assessment System in line with identified Work Inventory.
• Assist in preparation of Procurement inquiry or site show around if required.
• Provide support to BCP, IQC, R&D, ISO, external and internal audit and any other activities.
• With an open mindset towards future potential overseas deployment or rotation to different parts of the environment business such as Business Development, Commercial etc.
• Such other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably requested by plant managerment / the head of department from time to time
Improvement/Project/Overhaul works:
• Explore, contribute to, carry out and coordinate Value Creation projects that seek to improve and optimize plant processes. For such projects, as and when required, to perform deep analysis and develop models to determine feasibility, scale of conduct, scenario-based hypothesis and most importantly, expected payback period and return on investments.
• Support and contribute to external projects that involve Singapore and overseas plants.
• Coordinate Contractor activities for Boiler and Turbo-Generator overhaul, Common shutdown, as well as any ad hoc work activities in plant
• Plan and coordinate activities that promote Culture and Communication in the plant.
Contractor Management:
• Liaise with contractors on matters relating to operations, maintenance and solid waste management.
• Supervise and oversee maintenance activities that are carried out by contractors
• Ensure contractor compliance to in-house rules and HSE protocol. Ensure adequate supervision is provided and jobs are carried out safely.

• Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Strong team player. Advantageous for candidates to have good leadership track records (E.g. CCA or NS records).
• Good attitude, self-motivated, have willingness to learn and possess strong problem-solving skills
• Good analytical skills – able to plot graphs, interpret trends, derive relationships between variables and draw conclusions from there. Having some background knowledge in statistics and/or programming software (e.g. Python, “R” programming, etc) will be a bonus.
• Meticulous with good interpersonal and communication skills
• Good knowledge of workplace and process safety. Having some previous training relating to HAZMAT/First Aid/Incident Management/Work-at-Height/Confined Space will be a plus. Otherwise, trainings will be planned for those who do not possess the expected WSH certifications.

• Must be able to adapt to waste handling and humid environment when the situation calls for it
