Job Description

As IT Project Engineer, you play a significant role in the delivery of the IT infrastructure for automated material handling systems for our customers in the APAC region. You have a strong background in IT infrastructure components such as networking, server/client hardware, operating systems, and middleware. You can advise an IT solution based on customer and architecture design requirements. Moreover, you are familiar with implementing cyber security guidelines. As IT Engineer you work together with an international team of specialist and local subcontractors.

Vanderlande understands the complexities associated with a successful airport and parcel operation and delivers future proof logistic process automation. These automation systems are composed of many (electro-) mechanical, IT and controls components that require expert knowledge to support.

As IT Project Engineer you have a strong affinity with networking, virtualization, linux and windows operating systems and the hardware they run on. As IT Project Engineer you will work on multiple regional projects to commission such systems and provide expert support during their operational use.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • As IT Project Engineer, you will be a primary point of contact for internal and external customers, so it’s important to have good communication skills. Taking ownership is your core value.
  • Analyze problems by asking the right questions, you listen to the customer, and you translate your findings into a technical solution.
  • Have a systematic way of executing implementations and troubleshooting, top-down or bottom-up, whichever is required.
  • Think in cause-effect advising the customer on the next cause of action minimizing downtime for the operation.
  • Take pro-active measures based on project plans and own insight.

As IT Project Engineer you are part of the Integration Team APAC. Based on your field of interest there is opportunity to grow to a specialized or manager role within the service or project execution department.

Your department

The APAC project integration department is part of the business unit Airport & Parcel Solutions within Vanderlande Industries. The department is responsible for system design, testing and integration of complex Airport and Parcel systems for customer in the Asia Pacific region like Changi, Hong Kong and Sydney airport and DHL, FedEx and UPS international customers. The department works in an international team setting with people from different countries with different cultural backgrounds.

Your Profile

You are a born IT engineer who can balance between client demand and internal stakeholders. You have a strong background in delivering and supporting IT infrastructure. You like to work together in an international multi-disciplinary team of engineers.

  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science.
  • Broad affinity with IT infrastructure, preferably in Industrial Automation and interested in logistic processes. 2-5 years of relevant working experience is preferred but we are willing to train your domain knowledge!
  • Hands-on experience with HP server hardware, storage, and operating systems such as VMware virtualization, Suse/Ubuntu Linux and MS Windows is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco network hardware and configuration for firewalls, switches and routing is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with IT monitoring products and application middleware such as Oracle databases and Weblogic application servers is preferred.
  • Experience with designing and implementing IT cybersecurity guidelines and related software such as Trend Micro/McAfee, SIEM, vulnerability scanning and system hardening.
  • It is an advantage if you are familiar with the ITIL methodologies as well as Lean and Six Sigma
  • Basic knowledge of testing methodologies and troubleshooting techniques
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Assertive team player and proactive
  • You are willing to travel for up to 80% of the time.
  • You are willing to work in a standby schedule together with your team to handle escalations from operational sites
