Project Title
NAND Product Validation, Characterization, and Electrical Failure Analysis
Project Description
The intern will undertake a structured engineering project focused on NAND product validation, characterization, and electrical failure analysis.
Under the guidance of experienced product engineers, the intern will gain practical exposure to NAND device physics, product specifications, validation methodologies, and semiconductor test equipment. The project will include hands-on bench testing, analysis of electrical test results, and evaluation of selected product changes or failure cases.
The intern will collaborate with engineers from Product Engineering and relevant cross-functional teams to understand how technical evidence is used to investigate NAND-related issues and improve product quality.
Objective of the Project

• Develop foundational knowledge of NAND device physics, product specifications, and validation methodologies.
• Apply semiconductor and microelectronics concepts through structured bench experiments and data analysis.
• Build practical experience in NAND characterization, electrical failure analysis, and engineering problem-solving.
• Identify insights or improvement opportunities that contribute to product quality and validation effectiveness.

Project Scope

• Plan and conduct defined NAND product validation and characterization experiments using relevant bench equipment and engineering tools.
• Evaluate selected post-qualification NAND product changes through test execution, data comparison, and technical documentation.
• Analyze selected customer-return or system-failure cases associated with potential NAND design or intrinsic-device behaviour.
• Investigate NAND performance marginalities and develop data-based recommendations for validation or quality improvement.
• Develop or enhance scripts and automation tools to improve the efficiency, consistency, or visibility of selected engineering analyses.

• Gain practical knowledge of NAND architecture, device physics, specifications, and product behaviour.
• Learn semiconductor product validation, characterization, and electrical failure-analysis techniques.
• Develop hands-on experience with bench testing, test-data interpretation, and engineering documentation.
• Learn how Product Engineering and cross-functional teams investigate complex product and system-level issues.

Deliverables

• A documented validation or characterization methodology for the assigned NAND feature, product change, or technical issue.
• A structured analysis of test results, product behaviour, or selected electrical failure signatures.
• An automation script or analytical tool that improves a defined engineering workflow.
• A final technical report and presentation covering the project methodology, findings, and recommendations.

Impact of the Project

• Improve understanding of selected NAND product behaviour, marginalities, or failure mechanisms.
• Enhance the repeatability or efficiency of defined validation and characterization activities.
• Provide technical findings that may inform product-quality, validation, or failure-analysis improvements.

Skillsets Required

• Basic knowledge of semiconductor physics, microelectronics, electronic devices, or electrical measurements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical-learning capabilities.
• Familiarity with data analysis or programming languages such as Python, C, or C++ is advantageous.
• Ability to communicate technical findings clearly and work collaboratively with engineering teams.
• Familiarity with responsible AI-enabled tools or workflows for engineering data exploration or productivity is advantageous but not required.

Course of Interest
The ideal candidate should be pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Microelectronics, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Duration of Period
The ideal candidate should be able to commit to a full time internship period of 5 months from Jan to May 2027.
