Infrastructure & Natural Resources

The Infrastructure & Natural Resources (“INR”) Group invests in global infrastructure and natural resources companies to deliver growing, inflation-linked cash flows over a long-term investment horizon. Our global team consists of over 70 investment professionals handle a geographically diverse CAD 40 billion global investment portfolio. Our investments are primarily through direct, privately held, controlling or co-controlling stakes, rather than through funds or passive holdings.

Private Capital

OTPP’s Private Capital (PC) team leads the Plan’s private equity activities. With over C$60 billion of AUM globally, Private Capital invests directly and through private equity funds in companies around the world seeking to grow and add value over the long run. Private Capital stands as one of the largest and most sophisticated pools of capital in the world. Through over 200+ direct and fund investments, Private Capital has generated a net internal rate of return of roughly 20% since inception.

 What you’ll do

  • You will be involved in assisting the team in analysing potential new investment opportunities, managing our existing investments and will gain the following hands-on experience and training:

  • Hone your financial modelling abilities by analysing investment opportunities

  • Learn to identify key value drivers and risks for investments and perform related sensitivity and scenario analyses

  • Support due diligence exercises

  • Prepare valuations, presentations, and reports to senior investment professionals

  • Develop and analyse business cases for portfolio company / asset value creation initiatives (debt refinancings, expansion projects, management compensation, on-going budgeting, etc.)

What you’ll need

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate with a concentration in investments, finance, or accounting

  • Previous intern experience in M&A, investment banking, private equity, equity research, INR, or real estate.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) required

  • Familiarity with financial modelling – you are a number whiz! 

  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills and ability to perform in-depth analysis

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – you are a people person and love working in a dynamic team!

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and initiatives while remaining detail-oriented

  • Currently enrolled in your 3rd / 4th year

  • You will be returning to your studies after the work term is completed

  • Availability for 6 months internship from Jul 2026 to Dec2026.
