OMERS Global Credit invests in both developed and developing markets of Asia Pacific and across the entire capital structure from its Singapore office.

We are looking for a highly motivated law student or recent law graduate to join our team in Singapore. In this role, you will support the Global Credit investment team in the pursuit and execution of investments in mainly private markets, (co-)investments involving third party managers, and leverage facilities with OMERS Global Credit as borrower.

As a member of the Global Credit team, reporting to the Director, Legal based in Singapore, the Legal Intern will be involved in the investment process and legal operations, including NDAs, wall-crossings, KYC requests, investment authorizations, corporate secretarial documents, signing and closing mechanics. The Legal Intern will liaise with external legal and other professional advisors, as well as internal teams in compliance, finance, operations, tax and trading.

As a member of this team, you will be involved in:

  • Providing legal operational support to investment professionals with respect to corporate secretarial or funds flow matters of our Singapore incorporated investment vehicles

  • Providing legal operational coverage to compliance professionals with respect to satisfaction of KYC requests.

  • Providing transactional legal and legal operational support on Global Credit (co-)investment pursuits, including liaising with external legal counsel and other professional advisors and assisting the deal team through the investment process, such as drafting or reviewing (as the case may be) confidentiality agreements, wall-crossings, letters of interest, memorandums of understanding, legal due diligence reports, enforcement memorandums, investment authorizations, signing and closing.  

  • Providing transactional legal and legal operational support on Global Credit leverage facility pursuits, including assisting with condition precedent or subsequent satisfaction and obtaining underlying borrower consents.

  • Liaising with OMERS compliance, finance, operations, tax, trading and other areas within the OMERS enterprise.

To succeed in this role, you are or have:

  • A university law student or recent law degree holder in a Singapore, England and Wales or US jurisdiction.

  • Interest or knowledge in private credit investing, such as senior and mezzanine lending, including covenant packages, security perfection, ring-fencing and enforcement mechanisms).

  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with a broad range of professionals.

  • An intellectually curious team player with a desire to understand all aspects of a transaction.

  • Able to multitask effectively and work independently; and be a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic.

  • A fast learner, with a consistent “can do” attitude.
