Project Title: Dry Etch Process Development
Project Description
This internship project offers hands-on exposure to semiconductor dry etch process development within a manufacturing environment. The intern will participate in structured experimental studies to evaluate opportunities for improving process efficiency, reducing material cost, and minimizing process variation through data-driven analysis.
Project Objectives

• Evaluate opportunities for process time reduction, material cost optimization, and process variation reduction through designed experiments
• Build foundational knowledge of dry etch process principles and equipment fundamentals
• Understand the relationship between key process parameters and product patterning outcomes

Project Scope

• Learn the fundamentals of dry etch processes and associated hardware systems
• Gain exposure to one dry etch application used in Micron manufacturing
• Understand process characterization techniques and how process parameters (process vectors/knobs) influence patterning performance on product wafers
• Analyze experimental results to identify improvement opportunities aligned with project objectives

Deliverables

• Optimization proposal for an existing dry etch process with measurable improvements in process time, cost, and/or variation
• Technical presentation summarizing experimental approach, analysis, and key findings

Learning Opportunities

• Exposure to semiconductor process development methodologies in a manufacturing environment
• Application of engineering fundamentals to real-world process challenges
• Development of technical analysis, documentation, and presentation skills

Course of Interests

• An ideal candidate should be pursuing a degree in a relevant discipline such as Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
