Job Description
Team Summary
The AP interchange team develops strategies that enables Visa to set the financial rate of exchange, the interchange reimbursement fee (IRF), between different stakeholders in the payments ecosystem. It does so to support the growth of the digital payments’ ecosystem to the benefit of consumers, merchants and all ecosystem participants and society as a whole.
A highly strategic team, it works in close collaboration with all functions and markets in AP as well as globally to develop and evaluate appropriate interchange strategies that balances a range of variables, including but not limited to market contexts, competitive dynamics, regulation, innovation, and new payment use cases.
What an Analyst of Interchange does at Visa:
An Analyst within the interchange team supports strategic and complex projects in collaboration with a matrix of function and market stakeholders. The remit includes conducting data analysis and strategic evaluation based on both market and industry variables while supporting engagements with relevant market and function stakeholders in a way that supports the development of interchange rates strategies across the Asia Pacific Region. The role has a good mix of strategic, business, and technical knowledge providing flexibility and significant learning opportunities in the dynamic digital payments’ ecosystem.
In this role you are expected to:
- Become an interchange subject matter expert with a sound working knowledge of both Visa and industry context that enables development of strategic plans that drives innovation and growth across the digital ecosystem. Work and projects that you will be part of include but are not limited to:
- Playing an integral part of Country Strategic Interchange Reviews that support the execution of market and function objectives and strategic priorities
- End-to-end ownership of the development and execution of Strategic Merchant Rate proposals that grow acceptance while supporting innovation across the ecosystem
- The development and maintenance of country interchange dashboards that enables strategic adjustments and insight into interchange and ecosystem trends across markets
- Actively support and contribute to strategic reviews of net-new payment use cases and strategic response plans
- Driving data analytics to support business insights to support functional stakeholder strategic requests, client requests, and to support the planning and development of new strategies to support the growth of Visa’s payments ecosystem
- Actively collaborate across a matrix of functions and markets to support the execution of strategic plans leveraging interchange
- Play an active role both technically and strategically in Country Interchange Reviews with market leadership teams
- Be accountable and responsible for own book of work as well as proactively and collaboratively support that of others
- Embrace change and actively pursue ways in which to enables cross-functional teams to achieve stated goals in new and innovative ways
- Act as a thought-partner and coach to all members of immediate team and other function and market teams

Qualifications
What you will need:
A critical and highly strategic role, we are looking for an individual who brings experience, a curiosity about payments, is results-driven, and client focused. As a candidate, you should have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business and economics, finance, or engineering or a similar field with focus on strategic, analytical, and quantitative modules
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in the payments industry, financial services, or consulting
- Analytical and quantitative skills able to resolve complex business problems with well-structured analyses.
- Strong analytical and quantitative ability with proven expertise in modeling techniques and managing large data sets using Excel and Access. Ability to communicate complex analysis in a strategic manner using Power Point and other presentation tools
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to absorb technical information and apply to business solutions where little or no precedence exists. Be able to communicate complex, technical concepts in a focused and well-organized manner
- Willingness to take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment and be flexible with multi-tasking and changing priorities. Ability to work in the “grey area” where answers may not be known but need to be developed
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills in negotiating and influencing internal and external stakeholders
- Organized self-starter, result oriented, and a passion for scaling new products
- A natural appetite and drive for continuous enhancements and process improvement
- Ability and hunger for proactively identifying opportunities and recommendations to increase quality and efficiency
- Team collaboration demonstrated by desire and willingness to share knowledge with a broader team, be receptive to new ideas and changes to the standard operational procedures
What will also help:
- Subject Matter Expertise in multiple areas such as card payments, payment technologies, loyalty services gained through years of experience supporting clients and new product initiatives within a payment-processing environment
- Advanced analytics experience and capabilities such as managing big-data models and programming of analytical tools including but not limited to SQL, Tableau, and Python
- Experience of working with Issuers, Acquirers, Merchants and Merchant Partners in the Asia Pacific region
