Job Description
The Senior Infrastructure/Platform Engineer will be required to install, configure, and set up enterprise servers across Linux, Windows, and Solaris systems. You will assist the Solution Architect in implementing proposed solutions and lead project engineers to successfully complete assignments and project implementations.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Design & Architecture Support: Assist the Solution Architect in providing innovative designs and solutions leveraging Bare Metal Servers, Virtual Servers, Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, Satellite, and serverless computing cloud services.
- Virtualization & OS Management: Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of virtualized environments (VMware/ESXi) alongside enterprise operating systems (RHEL, Windows Server, and Oracle Solaris).
- High Availability & Clustering: Implement and optimize operating system sharing, zoning, and high-availability clustering configurations to ensure seamless failover and business continuity.
- Assessment & Optimization: Review customer server setups, identify architectural or operational flaws, and propose robust enhancements. Maximize automation via shell scripting to increase productivity.
- SLA & Escalation Management: Handle technical escalations seamlessly to eliminate operational gaps and meet or exceed strict SLAs.
- Incident Response & ITSM: Utilize IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and tool support. Participate in a rostered rotation to handle incidents, planned maintenance, or ad-hoc activities after office hours.
Operations & Schedule Flexibility:
- Initial Phase: Perform primary duties during standard office hours, with occasional scheduled after-hours maintenance or deployment activities.
- Future Phase: As legacy operations phase out and transition to modern platform structures, this role will evolve to include dedicated shift work or an expanded 24/7 rotational on-call support structure.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Perform daily health checks, monitor server fleets, provide performance statistics during troubleshooting, and manage operational reporting once projects go live.
- Project Leadership: Keep track of outstanding deployment tasks, drive timely follow-ups, and lead/guide project engineers through the implementation phase.
- Documentation: Constantly update technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and runbooks as necessary to accurately reflect the system setup and live environment.
Requirements
- Citizenship: Must be a Singaporean citizen due to G50 security clearance requirements by the client.
- Education: Diploma/Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
- Core Experience: At least 5 years of hands-on working experience in Linux (especially Red Hat) and Windows Server environments, preferably with exposure to cloud environments.
- Virtualization Expertise: Proven working experience managing enterprise virtualization platforms using VMware and ESXi (including host management, virtual networking, and storage mapping).
- Legacy & Specialized Systems: Direct administrative experience working with Oracle Solaris environments, including a strong understanding of OS sharing, zoning, and high-availability clustering configurations
Cloud & Container Technologies:
- Prior experience working in or supporting environments utilizing public cloud platforms (Tanzu, AWS or Azure).
- Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and related technologies like Docker containers and Kubernetes container orchestration.
- Middleware Knowledge (Advantageous): Prior exposure to, or support experience with, enterprise middleware components such as messaging queues (IBM MQ) or event streaming platforms (Apache Kafka.
- Enterprise Support: Prior experience providing enterprise-wide support across hybrid infrastructures, including public/private cloud and on-premises environments.
- Professional Attributes: Possess an analytical mindset, strong leadership and organizational abilities, and a high level of initiative to continuously improve productivity and efficiency.
Key Skillsets Required
- Operating Systems: Strong administrative and implementation skills in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Windows Server, and Oracle Solaris.
- Virtualization & High Availability: Hands-on management of VMware ESXi architectures, OS sharing, zoning, and high-availability clustering/failover setups.
- Containers & Orchestration: Solid implementation and management knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker containers, Red Hat OpenShift, and automation tools like Ansible.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Proven experience deploying, configuring, and supporting server infrastructure within cloud environments .
