Responsibilities:
Leadership
•    Establish a clear vision and direction for the Valuation function, aligning team priorities with business objectives and evolving organizational needs. 
•    Create an environment that promotes engagement, accountability, continuous improvement, and high standards of professional excellence. 
•    Build and lead a high-performing team by developing individual capabilities, fostering collaboration, and leveraging diverse perspectives and expertise. 
•    Coach and develop team members through constructive feedback, mentoring, and development opportunities aligned with their strengths and career aspirations. 
•    Develop organizational capability through effective talent management, succession planning, and active support of knowledge sharing and talent mobility across the broader actuarial and finance community. 

Valuation and Financial Management
•    Lead the delivery of actuarial valuation and financial reporting activities, ensuring results are accurate, timely, and consistent with Manulife standards and governance requirements. 
•    Oversee reserve governance, valuation methodologies, key assumptions, and actuarial analyses, including Drivers of Earnings (DOE) and investigations into emerging experience. 
•    Lead actuarial forecasting, business planning, and financial projections to support strategic planning and decision-making.
•    Provide meaningful insights into financial performance, profitability, and key business drivers through effective management reporting and analysis. 
•    Establish and maintain robust actuarial controls, processes, and reporting frameworks, while driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency. 
•    Partner with Finance and business stakeholders to communicate financial results, emerging trends, risks, and opportunities, and support informed management decisions.

In-Force Business Management
•    Lead actuarial oversight and monitoring of in-force business performance, including persistency, claims experience, and emerging policyholder behaviour. 
•    Provide insights on key trends, risks, and performance drivers, and support management actions to improve portfolio performance, policyholder outcomes, and long-term value creation.
•    Lead the monitoring and provide actuarial input into crediting rate, cap rate, and dividend scale, balancing customer value, competitiveness, profitability, and risk considerations. 

Business Support, Risk & Product Advisory
•    Partner with Finance, Pricing, Product, Investments, and business stakeholders to provide actuarial insights that support decision-making and strategic initiatives. 
•    Assess the financial implications of business initiatives, product enhancements, pricing proposals, and changing market conditions. 
•    Provide actuarial expertise for strategic projects and business initiatives, ensuring appropriate consideration of profitability, risk, customer outcomes, and long-term value creation. 
•    Support the evaluation of capital, reinsurance, investment, and other initiatives where actuarial input is required. 

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies/Education:
●    Fellow of an internationally recognized actuarial society (e.g. FSA, FCIA, FIAA, FIA, or equivalent)
●    At least 10 years of actuarial experience with a strong understanding of life insurance financial reporting, valuation, and business performance management.
●    Strong knowledge of IFRS 17 is preferred.
●    Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex actuarial and financial concepts into clear and actionable business insights
●    Strong financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to translate technical actuarial insights into practical business outcomes.
●    Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish credibility and develop effective partnerships across local, divisional, and global levels.
●    Demonstrated leadership experience in building and developing high-performing teams, managing competing priorities, and delivering results in a resource-constrained environment.
