Job Profile Summary:
As the Head of Strategy, you will lead PACS’s enterprise strategy function — combining foresight, commercial stress testing, KPI definition, and business planning into one integrated engine of strategic effectiveness.
You will act as a key advisor to the CSTO and CEO, shaping future growth paths, ensuring our value levers are monetizable, and defining how success is measured. Your remit includes long-term scenario thinking and near-term delivery clarity.
This is a role for a strategist who brings not only intelligence and insight — but also commercial fluency, performance mindset, and pragmatic influence.
Role Purpose and Overview
You will drive the end-to-end strategy lifecycle:
- From external sensing and internal insight
- Through strategic planning and trade-off framing
- Into commercialisation, KPI design, and optimization strategy
You will ensure that PACS’s strategy is both ambitious and executable — tied to ROI logic, stress-tested under multiple scenarios, and embedded into how we track and improve performance.
You will work closely with the Finance and Performance teams to ensure strategic KPIs are designed with purpose and monitored with discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Performance Alignment:
Lead the enterprise strategic planning process, ensuring linkages between ambition, financial impact, and resource constraints.
Partner with CFO and Performance teams to co-define strategic KPIs and performance levers.
Track alignment and uplift across Must Win / Must Fix portfolios and investment logic.
Strategic Advisory & Commercialization Strategy:
Lead commercial strategy reviews for priority initiatives (e.g. health products, universal rider, HNW solutions, Banca innovation).
Embed stress-testing logic and commercialization pathways into early-stage strategy work.
Partner with Product, Distribution, and Finance teams to pressure-test monetization models and optimize value creation.
Business Insights & Optimization:
Integrate internal and external data to uncover performance gaps and business improvement opportunities.
Drive forward-looking trade-off analysis, customer cost-to-serve modelling, and channel effectiveness insights.
Frame strategic implications for optimization of product, channel, or cost decisions.
Foresight & Market Intelligence:
Lead horizon scanning, competitor benchmarking, and regulatory sensing.
Shape Group-aligned narratives with market-specific insight — informing PACS strategy papers, QBPRs, and ExCo decisions.
Narrative & Decision Framing:
Co-create “preview and pause” materials for CEO and CSTO — connecting strategic choices to KPIs and financial impact.
Translate strategy into enterprise narratives that support CEO visibility and Group confidence.
Team & Leadership:
Build and lead a high-performing team with capacity in insight, planning, and strategic storytelling.
Elevate the team’s operating rhythm, technical depth, and influence with senior stakeholders.
Competencies and Behaviours Expected
Strategic and Commercial Fluency:
You bridge macro foresight with business case realism. You connect strategic ambition with economic logic and execution constraints.
Optimization & Value Thinking:
You ask not just “what should we do?” but “how do we do it better, faster, or more profitably?” You challenge the status quo with data and insight.
Performance Alignment:
You think in KPIs, not just strategy decks. You design and align success metrics that shape behaviour and outcomes.
Decision Support and Influence:
You bring options, trade-offs, and implications — enabling better choices at the top. You frame decisions with calm, sharp confidence.
Systems Thinking & Integration:
You connect dots across silos, seeing how transformation, product, distribution, and capital come together in the strategy.
Role Requirements / What You Bring to the Team
You are a business-savvy strategist with experience in driving high-stakes planning, performance alignment, and commercial growth. You balance aspiration and precision, with the ability to see the big picture and zoom in on what matters.
You are as comfortable crafting a narrative for ExCo as you are tearing apart a KPI dashboard or customer segment analysis.
Working Experience:
10+ years in strategy, finance, consulting, or enterprise planning roles
Strong track record in commercialisation strategy, strategic performance reviews, and stakeholder engagement
Experience in financial services, insurance, or regulated sectors is a strong advantage
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or related field
Postgraduate qualification (MBA or equivalent) preferred
Professional Qualifications:
Experience in strategic frameworks, business model optimization, KPI design, and commercial planning tools
Proficiency in Excel and data storytelling; Power BI/Tableau familiarity is a plus
Additional Skills:
Strong commercial instinct paired with strategic structure
High credibility in senior forums and ability to handle challenge gracefully
Comfort with ambiguity, complexity, and balancing multiple time horizons
