We are looking for a Head of Pricing - South East Asia (SEA) in Singapore.

 

This role leads SCOR's Southeast Asia (SEA) Pricing team, managing a team of Pricing Actuaries while overseeing pricing and risk assessment activities across the market. The position partners closely with the Head of Market to drive strategic objectives, strengthen client relationships, and support profitable business growth within SCOR's risk appetite. It also works collaboratively with broader APAC Pricing and Global teams to ensure compliance with pricing governance frameworks and contribute to regional and global research and development initiatives.

 

Responsibilities

Key duties and responsibilities

 

1. To lead the Pricing function in SEA in the following activities:

  • Responsible for delivery of timely and quality pricing quotations on new business opportunities, and repricing on existing business
  • Ensure pricing conforms to SCOR’s global pricing and underwriting policy and principles
  • Ensure risks quoted and accepted are on a technically sound and profitable basis
  • Detailed understanding of risks for new business and inforce business with consideration of the interaction with the SEA strategy and risk appetite
  • Enhance and develop the local pricing & underwriting guidelines for all SEA markets
  • To provide technical support for new product/risk development in SEA
  • To support inforce management in SEA and ensure emerging experience is reflected in pricing/repricing
  • To recruit and retain technical talent, provide guidance and training, ensure the development and stability of the pricing team
  • Build market intelligence to enable informed pricing and risk assessment decisions
  • Support building the SCOR brand, promoting SCOR via speaking at internal/external seminars and actively participating in the actuarial community
  • Develop and enhance relationships with external and internal clients

2. To support regional and global pricing initiatives and projects

Qualifications

Required experience & competencies

Experience:

  • At least 12 years of experience with minimum 5 years of post-qualification pricing experience within the insurance/reinsurance industry 
  • Bachelor’s (or above) degree in Actuarial Science/Math or related field;
  • Qualified member of one of major actuarial societies (FIA/FIAA/FSA)
  • Experience with major markets in South East Asia preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of key Life & Health products across individual and group segments 
  • Experience with reinsurance solutions/structures preferred
  • Team leadership and people management experience required, coupled with strong project management skills.
  • Experienced with main Actuarial tools

Personal Competencies:

  • Good analytical capability with problem solving attitude to provide balanced solution to market
  • Commercial business sense and experience
  • Good interpersonal skill to balance the need of various stakeholders
  • Excellent leadership skills and team player
  • Challenge the status quo and proactively look to improve knowledge and processes

Soft Skills:

  • Great teambuilding skill preferred to integrate the existing team, recruit new talent and develop new team members;
  • Flexible, “can do” attitude with interest in career and skill development.
  • Capable to adapt to changes in business environment
