Head of Payment Partnerships - APAC

The Head of Payment Partnerships, APAC will lead Adyen’s strategic payment partnerships across the region, driving impactful relationships with global card schemes, local payment methods, banks, and alternative payment providers. This role is crucial in optimizing our payment network performance and ensuring Adyen’s leadership in one of our fastest-growing regions.

As the senior-most payment partnerships leader for APAC, you will manage high-level relationships with key financial institutions, influence payment strategy, and collaborate cross-functionally to enhance payment performance. You will also oversee a team of partner managers, ensuring Adyen’s long-term success in APAC. 

This role requires a strong mix of strategic vision, hands-on execution, and industry leadership to address key challenges such as issuer relationships, local network engagement, and cost optimization.

What you’ll do: 

  • Strategic Partnership Management: Build and nurture relationships with global card schemes, local payment methods, banks, and alternative payment providers. Negotiate complex agreements and drive alignment with key network partners
  • Team Leadership: Manage and develop a team of payment partner managers, fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture. Ensure the team aligns with Adyen’s strategic goals and supports regional and global objectives
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product and commercial teams to define and execute go-to-market strategies for new product initiatives. Provide market insights to inform product development and commercialization efforts
  • Leadership Contributions: Actively participate in the Global Partnerships Leadership Team. Represent the APAC payment partnership perspective in global discussions and strategic decision-making
  • Market Development: Drive the adoption of Adyen’s products through innovative partnership models. Stay abreast of industry trends and dynamics and ensure Adyen is well positioned to both influence and benefit from these changes

Who you are: 

  • 10+ years of experience in the payments industry, with a strong track record in strategic partnerships and leadership
  • 5+ years of formal people management experience
  • Deep industry expertise in acquiring, issuer relationships, PSPs, and local payment networks in APAC
  • Proven success negotiating complex agreements with global networks (Visa, Mastercard), banks, and alternative payment providers
  • Strong executive presence, capable of representing Adyen at the highest levels across financial institutions, regulatory groups, and trade organizations
  • Able to operate autonomously, influence internal stakeholders, and drive strategy with minimal oversight
  • Business fluency in English, additional APAC languages (e.g. Mandarin, Japanese) are nice to have

Other details: 

  • Location: Singapore (office-first culture with an expectation of 3+ days in office, we don't offer remote-only roles)
  • Travel: Some international travel will be required
  • Compensation: Base salary + RSUs (details provided during interview process)
