Reporting to the Vice-President, Supramax Chartering, we are currently seeking a Head of Chartering that will be responsible to manage, coach and develop the Supramax Chartering team for Asia in the execution of the Fednav's chartering business, which includes managing resources and risks.
Location: Singapore office

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING | THE ROLE

The successful candidate is responsible for:

  • Lead and manage the Asia supramax chartering team to achieve business objectives and maximize profitability.
  • Establish and implement chartering strategies to optimize fleet utilization and market positioning.
  • Develop and maintain statistics, benchmarks and quality reports and drive performance
  • Make data driven decisions using analytics to assess market conditions, including supply and demand dynamics.
  • Negotiate and finalize charter party agreements with clients and brokers.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on chartering activities and performance.

WHAT YOU BRING | THE PERSON

The ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the shipping industry, with a focus on chartering.
  • 1-2 years’ experience managing a team
  • Ability to build relationships and develop trust
  • Engaging management style creating positive team interactions
  • Proven track record of successful chartering and negotiation skills.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of maritime regulations and market dynamics.
  • Ability to delegate and develop a result-oriented team
  • Flexible to work outside of office hours
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools.
  • Fluency in English.
