The opportunity

Hitachi Energy's Grid Integration business unit has delivered more than 4,000 projects over the last 15 years. Our Grid Integration portfolio spans a wide range of transmission and substation applications, which facilitate reliable and efficient system integration of the future digital electric network with minimum environmental impact. We incorporate the integrated systems, solutions and services of our business' DC and AC fields, including HVDCSubstationsFACTS, Grid and Power Quality solutions such as offshore wind connections, and Semiconductors. We offer Power Consulting for key segments in the energy system, such as renewables, transmission distribution and as well as e-transportation solutions.

As the HBU Contract Manager for Asia, you will lead and oversee the contract management operations across the HBU Asia, reporting to the GPG GPQSS Head of Contract Management. This role is critical in ensuring that all contract management activities align with organizational policies, legal requirements, and business objectives. You will be responsible for developing strategic contract management protocols, negotiating high-value contracts, and leading a team of contract management professionals.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • You will manage and mentor a team of contract managers, ensuring professional growth and adherence to best practices, monitor and anticipate the workload of your team, addressing their needs and ensuring efficient resource allocation.

  • You will develop contract strategies and project proposals based on policies, requirements, budget, and timescales, ensuring they meet agreed standards, ensure your team effectively negotiates contract terms and conditions to maximize financial and operational performance and mitigate risks

  • You will oversee your team's efforts in identifying and managing contractual risks, ensuring timely and accurate execution of risk management protocols, ensure your team captures and manages claims related to contracts, addressing any issues promptly and accurately.

  • You will ensure compliance with internal controls, statutory regulations, and other formalities, collaborate with legal, finance, and business development departments to ensure contract terms are favorable and comply with all statutory requirements.

  • You will conduct regular audits of existing contracts and oversee the resolution of disputes and renegotiations of contract terms as necessary, implement and utilize technology solutions to streamline contract management processes.

  • You will represent the organization in external negotiations and at professional conferences and seminars.

  • You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

  • Bachelor’s degree in law, business administration, or a related field.

  • Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in contract management, legal, or a related field, with a proven track record of managing a team.

  • Strong understanding of contract law, procurement, and project management, detail-oriented with an analytical mindset and problem-solving approach.

  • Experience in implementing contract management software and systems.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels within the organization.

  • Excellent negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.
