About the Department
As strategic core pillar of Innovation Group, Enterprise AI (EAI) serves as UOB’s AI center of excellence, championing adoption and driving business value through impactful AI initiatives across all UOB business units. EAI mandates strong focus on AI expertise and continuous project delivery while spearheading AI innovation and research.
Position Summary
The Responsible AI Specialist ensures that AI systems are designed, deployed, and governed in alignment with ethical principles, regulatory standards, and organizational values. This role will establish standards and processes and tools that embed fairness, transparency, accountability, and privacy into AI solutions, mitigating risks such as bias and unintended consequences.
Job Responsibilities
Responsible AI Governance & Operationalization
- Develop and maintain internal AI standards, guidelines and playbooks
- Advice project teams on risk mitigation strategies and ensure Responsible AI requirements are embedded as part of ‘AI by Design’
- Act as primary liaison between business and line 2 Risk Management on AI-related matters
- Ensure adherence to global regulations as well as Bank’s internal policies and framework
Risk Assessment & Mitigation
- Conduct risk impact assessments for AI models and applications
- Identify and address bias, fairness, and explainability issues in AI systems
- Implement controls & guardrails to reduce risks of misuse, hallucinations, and unintended outcomes
Stakeholder Engagement & Education
- Build and nurture a community of practice around Responsible AI, engaging stakeholders across Business Units, Technology, Data, Risk, Compliance and Legal
- Drive awareness and training programs on Responsible AI principles across the organization
- Act as a liaison with relevant external forums, industry working groups, and academic partners
- Provide guidance to business on ethical AI adoption and risk management
AI Advocacy & Enablement
- Champion the adoption of advanced AI and GenAI solutions across business, demonstrating values through projects, MVP and case studies
- Serve as an internal advisor and educator on AI capabilities, demystifying technology for senior stakeholders and business owners
- Maintain awareness of external AI landscape including frontier models, regulatory developments and competitor activity
- 10 to 15 Years of track record in AI/ML realm – either through technical practice, product ownership or risk / governance roles with deep AI exposure
- Strong understanding of AI lifecycle and AI/ML concepts including LLMs, Generative AI, model risk, algorithmic bias and explainability
- 5+ Years of experience with model validation methodologies
- Working knowledge of AI regulatory frameworks & ethics principles
- Superb communication skills – able to translate complex technical and regulatory concepts for non-technical audience with confidence and clarity
- Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Ethics, Law, or related field
- Responsible AI or AI Ethics certifications is desirable
- Experience contributing to AI governance bodies, ethics boards or industry working groups a plus
