Role Purpose

The Enterprise Governance Analyst supports SJ Group's Enterprise Governance Intelligence (EGI) unit by contributing to effective governance, risk oversight and management decision-making across the organisation.

The role works with stakeholders across the business and the corporate functions to support high-quality analysis, reporting, coordination and continuous improvement of governance practices.

Scope of the Role

The role sits in the second line. It is a supporting role within a small team, working alongside the Head of Risk Management and colleagues across the corporate functions to deliver the unit's work programme.

The work is varied and the priorities of the unit will change over time. The successful candidate will be someone who is comfortable picking up unfamiliar subject matter, working to a standard rather than to a script, and adapting as the unit develops.

Responsibilities

  • Support the team in the day-to-day delivery of governance and risk management activities across the Group.

  • Assist with the review of management and decision-support materials for completeness, consistency and clarity.

  • Analyse information from a range of business and functional sources, and summarise the key issues.

  • Prepare management reports, summaries, dashboards and presentation materials.

  • Coordinate inputs and follow-up actions across business units and corporate functions.

  • Maintain records, supporting documentation and reporting information.

  • Track outstanding actions through to closure.

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, information quality and reporting.

  • Support the use of digital and data-enabled tools to strengthen governance and reporting.

  • Undertake research and analysis on governance, risk and organisational matters as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in law, business, finance, risk management, corporate governance, accounting or a related discipline.

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in enterprise risk management, governance, compliance, legal operations, internal audit, commercial management, management consulting or a similar analytical role.

  • Direct, hands-on experience in enterprise risk management is required, including supporting the design, implementation or ongoing operation of a risk management framework, risk registers, risk assessments and risk reporting to management.

  • Experience reviewing complex business submissions, commercial proposals, management papers or decision-support materials would be advantageous.

  • Experience working in a large, matrixed, multinational or professional-services organisation is preferred.

  • Exposure to infrastructure, engineering, construction, consulting or project-based businesses would be beneficial.

  • Familiarity with corporate governance, due diligence or approval processes is desirable.

Skills and competencies

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking capabilities.

  • Ability to identify material issues, inconsistencies and information gaps.

  • Excellent written communication, with the ability to produce clear and concise management-level summaries.

  • Strong attention to detail while retaining an understanding of the wider commercial and organisational context.

  • Confidence in engaging and coordinating with senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Good judgement, discretion and the ability to handle confidential and commercially sensitive information.

  • Organised and methodical, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow matters through to completion.

  • Resilient, adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.

  • Proactive and collaborative, with the confidence to ask appropriate questions and constructively challenge incomplete information.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

  • An interest in the practical use of data, workflow automation and AI-enabled tools to improve governance and decision support would be advantageous.
